Our last stop has been Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed our visit to the Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Jim looked all over the place, high and low but never saw Dolly! We ran into the Compton's from Lexington who happened to be here too. We enjoyed having dinner together with Ben, Suzanne, Charlie and Nancy. It was nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with again.

It will be wonderful to be back in South Carolina even though there will be lots of changes from ...

... Tuesday had turned into Wednesday. We were exhausted but you need to keep going the first day to get used to the time change. Germany is 6 hours ahead of US EST. Our hostess, Yvonne met us at the airport and took us to her home. It is a former villa and she lives on one floor of it. Very unique! We went to the city and Yvonne showed us the main square and historical area. The streets were being closed and set up for a major ...

... on our list of towns to visit but talk about shock factor. We were in have beauty and serenity of the Great Smokey mountains, enjoying the peace, stillness and quiet expecting to come down into a small, sleepy hollow. Nothing could be further from the truth! As we exit the mountains, and we come down hone mountain, we are confronted by a strip that could be likened to mini Las Vegas. Lights, amusement parks, diners - both sides of ...

... ended up having 9 because,
well, he's a teenager and doesn't have a discerning palette. But most
of us had 2 or 3. The worst takeaway we've had so far but I had it on
my list to try so can cross that one off. Eeewww I feel blerch even
          writing about it!

From there we travelled up into
Kentucky. The plan was to do Mammoth Cave National Park and the
Chevrolet Factory which are both in or near Bowling Green. Part way
          up the ...

... br> Kaitlin made friends with a family who
had a girl either side of her in age so they swam together. We were
going to get together round the fire pit but it rained so they
watched a movie in the club house instead. Had a good chat to the dad
about travel and life. He had a tramping friend who had been to New
Zealand earlier this year and told them they had to go visit NZ at
some stage. Well, of course, everyone should!
