Andersonville excursion

As my time in Columbus came to an end, I made a daylong excursion to the Civil War prison site at Andersonville, an hour to the east of Fort Benning. The prison site itself consisted of little more than an open field with scattered memorials and other prison key points such as Wirz's Headquarters and the famous Providence Spring, but the guided tour of the site was very informative ...

Lawson, (who, by the way IS a hospice nurse), warned us "Your mom is 88....you're going to give her a heart attack!" I told him "She in an assisted living building - somebody there probably knows CPR." We're so bad.

... to face these challenges when I was working in oncology. ...I'm so glad I dropped in to visit - I took pictures and I only wish they truly reflected this happy family - I wanted to be part of it!! Malkanti and Asoka would be proud!!! I didn't do my rude thing and pull out my iPad to post an entry ( like I did with Carole and family) - so the location stamp here won't read Atlanta, Georgia ...but this place where I camped last night....Cordele is a mere 152 miles south ...

Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, Plains, Georgia. Given its rural setting in west central Georgia, it is rather amazing that it would be the home of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. We were able to walk around the farm where he grew up and visit Plains High School, which he attended. Most of the town hasn't changed a bit since his boyhood. After high school he attended the Naval Academy and graduated from there in 1946. ...
