Main St Ocho Rios, Jamaica
The Jamaica trip was a much better experience overall than Haiti with the only exception being the pushiness of the vendors. We took a tour of the Green Grotto Caves, which was amazing. There were bats in abundance and the path we followed was guided by a very knowledgable and entertaining man who told us about the history of the caves and their use in the Jamaican version of the Underground Railway, as well as historically in the original civilizations of the island. Jarod was the ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica adellegThe ship docks at Ochos Rios in Jamaica so we decided to just do a little shopping onshore .Jamaica is a fairly poor country so competition is very strong for any sort of business that they can get. After you leave the ship it's a kilometre walk down to a few shopping centres. About 15 different people asked if we wanted a taxi and then once in the stores the store ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica youngsinusa2009Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica gratien... guide with our tour. We loaded onto our bus and we were on our way.

The place where we would be zip-lining was about an hour drive from the port. The bus had to climb a narrow, rugged and one lane road up into the mountains to get to the zip-line area. Before we got to the mountain road, we traveled along a main highway through Jamaica and were able to view the country ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica thetraveldog... are usually standing by at the bus to see you off. A very nice touch in my opinion, and if you are really lucky, Mr. Grant will step onto the bus himself, express his wishes for a safe return, and sing you a farewell song. I have never experienced anything like that, anywhere that we have traveled. Just another reason why we love Sandals, Love Dunn's River and why we created Sun, Sand & Seas.com to share our experiences with you.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica caribbean_fever... com at Rooms on the Beach in Ocho Rios. I got a smokin deal too, I love that website. And my next mission was to try and find some locals there since it was one place in the island that I didn't know anyone. Thats when I went on Myspace and did a search for people from Ocho Rios. After sifting through loads of profiles I finally found one who looked like he was friendly and fun. I decided to contact him and tell him my trip dates and find out ...

Ocho rios, Jamaica jamaicamenutts... largest watershed. Hiking is one of my most favorite activities and I haven't been able to hike much since I arrived in Jamaica. I was also really looking forward to being in the mountains again, and the cool weather at that elevation will be a relief from the heat of the north coast. I was going with another volunteer and her visiting friend. We left Ochi on Saturday morning, and we chose to go through Kingston to get to the town of Mavis Bank where we started ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipostHi Friends and Family, I hope you are all doing well. Is it getting cold where you are? Well, if you need a break from the snow and cold weather in a couple of months, you are welcome to visit me here in the sun and warmth that lasts 365 days. You never know I might need a break from the heat in a few months. I've finally uploaded some pictures from training. I wish I had more, but I had camera difficulties and lost alot of them. Enjoy! Peace with love Jenni
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipostThis was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
