We waited in line at the port, dock number 4 and bought cheap tickets for a one hour boat ride. We really enjoyed this and oohed and aahhhed at how lovely it all was.

The obligatory ice-cream stop after the boat ride before we headed back to the hotel, stopping on the way at a K.Mart kind of store to buy me some swimming goggles, with my bright idea of swimming some laps in the big hotel pool.

Hmmmm that didn't eventuate. ...

... places to eat. Lucy was hungry again. Oh dear. Luckily we didn't stop at one of the restaurants along the canal and walked further where we stumbled upon a large open air market. It was really cool. Had lots of organic food stalls and lots of places to sit. Our host had encouraged us to eat Italian food and drink Italian wine so for the 5th night in the row we did. ... at a most inopportune moment. When we arrived in Como, even I needed a strong drink. Como was very busy with people out shopping. ... afternoon, Nathan, Tilly and I, had our first of what I hope will be many excursions into Milan. We took the bus from near our apartment to a metro stop and then the metro to the Duomo. It was pretty surreal to climb the stairs out of an underground train station see the enormous cathedral gradually emerge, step by step. ... I really don't like the way he turned back, even though it was probably innocent. But how do you know for sure? I head back down anyway. I don't see him follow me though. Once I get to the bottom, the church lets about 25 people out, of course. Now I'm really warm, so I grab some Italian ice cream and try to find the lido.
