We left the Netherlands early and headed for Germany, specifically Cologne (famous for the 4711 perfume) We spent some time in the square, looking at the magnificent gothic cathedral that towers over everything. We went to bed at 8 pm and woke up at 8 am...trying to recover from the jet lag. Felt great when we got up. Had breakfast at the hotel - the hotel is fabulous, great staff and first class accommodations. The Viking group was doing a walking tour but Al and I decided to do it on our own. ... still higher up you can go on the gondola to see snow and get a better view of the surrounding areas (going to check it out tomorrow).

After a reasonable meal, we watched the world cup finals. Most of the group and the staff manning the bar were German fans, so the win was quite exciting for them.

... sounds amazing right? unfortunately it was closed so we ended up walking through the red light district instead and checking out the girls in the windows.
