This day was absolutely fantastic! We had a bit of a sleep in and got up at 8:00 today. We then got ready for a day up the mountain in the snow. We wore jeans and took a jumper, as it was too hot to be wearing a jumper in Engelberg. We headed up to the Gondala station with Paul and Amanda, a couple we have become friends with. It was a short walk to get there and with our tickets our Tour leader had got us we were able to walk straight in and onto a ...

We relaxed with a few beers and then skied until about 4pm. That night, we went out to a restaurant that turned into a great bar scene - met a lot of people from all over and they were playing live classic rock music including "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" and "Sweet Caroline" so we felt right at ...

It was great to see this part of the Swiss culture.  Then we headed to the cafe for some Swiss chocolate fondue. Wow, what a delicious experience.  The next experience was a great one that I will remember for many years to come. From the moment we turned up to the ski lodge a few of us had our eyes on the outside spa and sauna. So come post dinner, ...

... be different! On top of all of this, we were heading straight to a small village called Opfikon, near Zurich, which is where my mother was born and grew up and planning to knock on the door of her best friend, Loni Buhrer, who I haven't seen for 15 years (since the year after my mother died). We have however written every Christmas....in German.

... bed, etc. We looked out over some apartment rooftops and were walking distance from the train station and a Starbucks. Perfecto!

First up was lunch and in my starving desperation, I told Steve we could pick the first restaurant that was open at 2:30pm, which happened to be "New York Food Company." Well, I was a little embarrassed of what the Swiss think of us - pizza, cheeseburgers and sub sandwiches, plus the fry and soda combo upgrade, were the ...
