... we didn't book the passes before we left Australia. Yes, that was me. However minor delay and all sorted. From zurich to bern, changed trains, off to interlaken ost, change trains, lauterbrunnen, changes trains and finally wengen.

beautiful blue skies, warm mid 20s and snow on the mountains. Just superb. We found our accommodation, had a bit of a look ... Gasping with horror at the prices of food ... And after a lovely tea ...

... in the order of 3400 metres above sea level, aircraft start pressurising their cabins at less than that. when I alighted the train at the very top, kelsey had to near carry me along, I actually felt drunk, and couldn,t think straight.

views were amazing and snowy. walked through their ice-tunnel thing, slowly as any exertion rendered me "drunk" again, and I had to be careful on that ice! by the way it was -6C tomorrow on ...

... t want to do too much as I had planned to do a few couple of hour hikes over the next few days.

I saw when I arrived in town signs for Jondelbend, which means a yodelling night, I thought it could be interesting and boy was I right. After dinner I wandered down to the school(yes there is a school in town I was rather surprised as well) where I paid my entry fee and walked in, to be faced with something that resembled Oktoberfest without ...

Very Small Lift

Once in Männlichen, we took a smaller lift down to Grund. These lifts were very small, and could hold only four people. Allison, Mom, Susannah, and I got in one and Dad had to go in another one.

On the whole ride down to Grund, I would shake the lift, which scared Mom. It was fun.

I departed from Montreux and headed via the train to Interlaken. I took the Panoramic Express, which took 3 hours. Along the way I saw some very beautiful scenery of switzerland in the spring. THere are farms with little wooden house villages scattered throughout the rolling hills at the base of the mountains. In the distance you see the peaks of the Alps with a little snow left over.
