After descending the 250 metres down into the Saustal Valley, it was a further 90 minutes hiking to go. I finally got back to the top of the Grutschalp chairlift at 5.20 pm, more than seven hours after I started the hike and I was very tired. The chairlift took me down to Lauterbrunnen where a train took me back up the mountain to Wengen and my very welcome hotel. A very difficult but satisfying day out! ...

Most people were doing it in tandem with an instructor and it looked so good and graceful. Cost a fortune of course, but so worth it!

We caught the train down and are now settled in the hotel, waiting for ...

After that I had a look around the town and took more photos. Esther’s Guesthouse is building an elaborate garden in front, and there were a couple of guys working on it. As I walked in front of Ole & Maria’s B&B, I spoke with a ...

The best day of my life, so far.

Of all the days and places we could spend our anniversary, Estela and I happened to be in the Bernese Overland above Grindelwald, Switzerland for our 20th. Actually, it turned out to be the best day of my life for many reasons. I have to apologize up front, but the days my kids were born were not the best days of my life, nor was the day I was married. Life changing, of course. Tear-jerking, emotional, of course. But for pure enjoyment, yesterday was a day to top ...
