    ... a train from Wengen up to Wengernalp (1873 m) and followed the very pretty path through forest and meadows to Stalden where the real decent begins. Then followed a mostly enjoyable but pretty hard hike for most of the way, but for the rest unnerving and sometimes downright terrifying would be more appropriate.

    ... to take the tram/gondola from town to Mannleichen (near the top, hoping for a view of the Jungfrau). But it was fogged in on top, so we just had lunch there and then returned back down to town. Feeling lazy, we took naps and then were rewarded with some breaking sunshine!     ... a basement there. We then walked to the nearby train station, and boarded a cog train for the 40 minute ride up the mountain to Wengen. We can see snow on the nearby mountains, and the forecast is for some snow tonight. Our hotel was about another 5 minute walk. Wengen does not allow any cars, only some small electric vehicles to transport people around. It should be a fun town to explore tomorrow! Total travel distance was 74 ...

    ... Noelene was very careful not to trip as her shoes were not the best for rough terrain. Noelene got wobbly knees before the final steep descent and a lovely young girl who was walking up the trail helped John support Noelene as she walked down the steep path. She was pretty shaken up.     ... s been collecting insects in the wildflower meadows and even set up a sort of primitive lab in the hotel room. I'm still keeping a scrapbook/journal and taking tons of pictures (but, really, you need IMAX to convey the scope and beauty of the scenery). Wish I could publish some photos in this blog, but it they would fail to convey the stunning scope of the scenery. Maybe The Sound of Music did it best...
