... be the highlight of this trip. The choice to go down to Lauterbrunnen should be a wise one as clouds hovered mountaintop. If we walked up to Klein Scheidegg, we might be in the cloud seeing nothing. The downhill was a little steep, but we walked quite slowly. When the clouds disappeared, the valley view was simply breath-taking. Waterfall falling down from high the cliff, is this paradise? So unreal! The signs are clear and you won't get lost ...

... locomotive at the rear but again it was extremely clean and tidy. As we were 1st class we had a great journey.
Finally into Basel and its now time to board a more local train for our journey to Interlaken in Switzerland. Just like the last two this train was great inside but after being on the go for well over 14 hours now all I wanted was my bed but we still had two more short local trains to catch before arriving into our town of Wengen.

... we didn't book the passes before we left Australia. Yes, that was me. However minor delay and all sorted. From zurich to bern, changed trains, off to interlaken ost, change trains, lauterbrunnen, changes trains and finally wengen.
beautiful blue skies, warm mid 20s and snow on the mountains. Just superb. We found our accommodation, had a bit of a look ... Gasping with horror at the prices of food ... And after a lovely tea ...
