Journey to Interlaken
... which the track had been built were covered in icicles. The two-hour train took us past Sarnersee Lake, and then, after turning around at Meiringen, headed towards the two lakes that are on either side of Interlaken. Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
... of the mountains around us and a thick layer of snow on everything. We spent this day travelling up the 'Top of Europe' with amazing views.. That unfortunately we were unable to see because of the weather.. All well, we got to go into an ice palace and the views on the way back made up for it. We had snowball fights, made snow angels, bought Swiss Army knives, ate traditional fondu, celebrated Matt and Jaz ...
Neat Little Town
Wengen was a neat little town. The train station had neat phone booths, which were like small rooms embedded in the wall. We passed by a neat playground (but they're were plenty of those all over Switzerland). There were plenty of neat shops. Also, everything was decorated red and white to celebrate Swiss National Day on August 1st. Very patriotic.

Swiss Alps Fun
... in Wengen our first night for a small reunion.
Arriving in Interlaken from Geneva, we are soon met by Andi and Urs...after a bit of shopping we drive up to Lauterbrunnen, park the car, and catch the train up to Wengen (no cars are allowed in Wengen). What a train ride - waterfalls to the left, snow-covered Alps to the right, and good friends in the middle! Eventually making it to the chalet, we unwind ...
Mountains
... went together, and we had to stop a lot. When we finally made it to the restaurant at the top we stopped to have some food and wine we brought with us. The view, of course, was breathtaking, amazing. I can't really describe it, and my pictures probably don't capture the intensity of it. Afterwards, we could have taken the tram down, but we walked instead. Today we are going to meet up, probably rent some bikes for a couple hours, and then head to Lyon, ...
