We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
Liechtenstein, Liechtenstein emmasadventures...

The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.

We explored Feldkirch and a few of its towers. The old town is quite charming with its colorful buildings, trickling fountains, and small shops. When we tried to ...
Feldkirch, Austrian Alps, Austria travelingdiva... the pedestrian street. I also stopped for a bite to eat in a small kebab eatery.

On the bus back to Sargans, I got off at a stop in Balzers so I could check out another castle - the one we passed on the bus journey to Vaduz. This one is also a private one, it turns out, so I couldn't go inside it either. It sits on top of a steep hill wrapped in vineyards. I walked around a bit until another bus came along and headed back to Sargans.
Vaduz, Liechtenstein travelingdiva... decamp to another, less salubrious location but joined us for dinner. Ah yes, dinner. So, Pork 'Cafe de Paris'? No, we hadn't a clue either. Apparently it means 'garlic and butter sauce', but we didn't find out till it arrived. I had Beef Stoganoff - or Goulash as they referred to it - and got two helpings. Which came as quite a shock after everyone else had finished their main to be presented with another helping. I thought it was my dessert as well.
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kaiserb_uk... up or down these passes!

I have to tell you that on the climb out of Chur towards Filisur in the morning the driver had noted a fault in the power of the Loco and had signalled ahead for a replacement. The Replacement had come from St Moritz to meet us at Filisur and the changeover facilitated in just ten minutes! Swiss management to a tee !!!
Unfortunately the maps on this Travelpod are road rather than rail so you don't get the route picture but ...
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland ankorjuglor... his first love and the shop had many examples of his art and other objet d'art with his designs appliqued. Whilst I do love his style of sculpture I don't think I could live in an apartment designed by him of which there are a few scattered around Austria his home country. [ The reason we made this pilgrimage to Staad was that we had been introduced to Hundertwasser's work by Anne's sister D some years ago when he used to live next door to her in the Bay of Islands and he had ...
Chur, Switzerland briancNo rail tour of Europe can be complete without a trip on at least one scenic railway. One of the best in world (which I had recommended to me by a collegaue of my dad) is the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn's Glacier Express. Rather than travel to Interlaken the easy way through the northern region, I figured I would head south and have a little fun on a train. I headed down to Chur to pick up the glacier express for its midday ...
Chur, Switzerland sjg209... mountain streams, villages.....what can I say?

While the train was going through a clearing, Shirley spotted some people taking a break sitting down on a bench, she cried out “Oh look, the peasants are sitting down.” We all got a big laugh out of that one.

We arrived at the train station in St. Moritz and boarded the bus to head into town. What a beautiful town! When you look up, you see the mountains and when you look down into the valley, you see the ...
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak... she accompanied me...). (BevNote: I’m no fool, I know my limits. As a matter of fact, while Paul went on, I sat and reveled in the view from where I was sitting. There were several people riding the updrafts with their 'chutes and it was every enjoyable watching them. A nun came up the mountain as I was watching them …she HAD to be around 90…and SHE didn’t have to stop and rest, just put one foot in front of the other and marched up the mountain… ...
