Today was somewhat low-key. We had a chance to tour Sportgymnasium, Madison's host school. All the kids who attend are athletes. They come here because the curriculum and schedules are tailored around their training. Many of the students here have gone on to become top national and even Olympic athletes. The rest of the afternoon was spent touring downtown Magdeburg and free time to explore on our own. The boys played a pick-up game of basketball while we sat and had cappuccino while people watching.
Tomorrow is Weimar and Buchenwald.

When last in Brandenburg a few years ago, my cousin offered to pay for the
rights to have the movie subtitled in German for educational purposes to the

... was spent relaxing - reading (Val) and blogging (Syd). Just before 7pm we went a little way down the street and had a Donner-Teller (Donner on a plate with salad and chips) each and a beer. This was a large plate and very filling - 14euro for both! (good as well - we have rarely been disappointed with such a meal in Germany).
Returning to the hotel we repacked the bags and went to bed using our own sleeping bags as the hotel's doona was too ...
