The rest of the afternoon was spent touring downtown Magdeburg and free time to explore on our own. The boys played a pick-up game of basketball while we sat and had cappuccino while people watching.
Tomorrow is Weimar and Buchenwald.
We spent most of today traveling by train to our host city of Magdeburg. We arrived to a warm welcome of smiles, hugs and waiving American and German flags from our host families.

... was spent relaxing - reading (Val) and blogging (Syd). Just before 7pm we went a little way down the street and had a Donner-Teller (Donner on a plate with salad and chips) each and a beer. This was a large plate and very filling - 14euro for both! (good as well - we have rarely been disappointed with such a meal in Germany).
