... its trade, it has gone downhill. We stayed in a pleasant B&B in the congested centre of town called "El Plan". Although the B&B was pleasant, the surrounding area was shabby & worst of all, didn't have a decent restaurant, only cafes serving badly cooked steaks with a mountain of chips topped with 2 fried eggs - a local delicacy. Eventually Yoko, Andreas, Andreas' friend Gary and I jumped on a bus out to Vina del mar - the beach. The bus was absloutely packed when we got on and they kept on stopping to let more people on. The bus from Santiago only took 2 hours and so we arrived in Vina Del Mar in plenty of time to look around before dinner. Our hotel is lovely. We have a huge room with our own bathroom, dinner table and cable tv. We are in absolute luxury compared to what we are used to from a hostel! We checked in and made use of the amazingly warm shower and then we decided to look around. We were able to get a private room with a double bed and a sink- the room was impeccably clean and the sheets were also equally so (yes even I slept on the sheets provided WITHOUT my sleeping bag cover...insane!). We arrived in Valparaiso from Santiago at 1pm after a very short trip for us just an hour and a half. Once we checked into the hostel we went for a walk to see the city, after about an hour it started to spill rain so we went back to the hostel for shelter ate dinner and had a nice bottle of wine.
