... a bus to Valparaiso. The bus ride costed the equivalent of $0.50, took about 35-40 minutes, and the driver drove at a rapid pace. We got off at Plaza Sotomayor and spent about a couple minutes checking out the plaza. It was really cool looking, and had a pretty cool statue. After the plaza, we headed towards the oldest funicular in Valparaiso, Cerro Conception. The streets around the funicular were pretty quiet, but we were able to find the funicular eventually. We ...

... wandering the streets? Well...not a lot. Which is probably why the thousands of stray dogs around the city spend their time just following tourists. As there wasn't much to see, we thought we would do. And that doing manifested itself in a Chilean cookery class. It was too late to get the bus now we thought and headed for the train, swiping the card on the barrier as we went. ...

... to end. On Sunday we had a slow and lazy morning before driving to the house of Nicholas and Loretta for a fun lunch. Less arguing about religion and the royal family than Christmas eve, instead lots of stories about Nicholas' times and Greece and his exploits at zumba classes. We got invited to the next class on the following Tuesday as Nicholas insisted it was very different and far more vigorous than English zumba. The holidays over for Magda and Willie they both had ...

... what used to be the house of an ambassador with elegant staircases and marble stone floors which had fallen into ruin. When the Panama canal open, it meant that the ships no longer had to stop in Valpo resulting in a period of economic decline of which the city is just recovering from. In addition, we rode a tram and visited various other bits and bobs including a mapuche (who were the original Indians of the area) workshop and store. Also in the tour we saw various other ...
