... 2000m high sibling - Osterfelderkopf. We decided to start small and work our way up, so Osterfelderkopf it was first up. We got off the train and made our way to the gondola. Only a handful of people got off the train with us as most carried on to the higher mountain which we would visit later in the day. So it was relatively quiet on this stretch of our adventure. On arrival at Osterfelderkopf, we made our way to the Alpspix. This attraction has ...

... did want to get some photos of the castle from the nearby suspension bridge that offers the best views. This castle is famous as it was the inspiration form Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty's castle. The castle receives 1.3 million visitors a year and in peak summer days, over 6000 visitors, and were they all here today or what? The walk up the steep climb took around 20 minutes, and in the midday sun and 33 degrees, some of us were a bit grumpy, not to mention ...

After waking up to another beautiful day in Munich, we take a cab to Sixt to pick up our 2015 BMW 530d; a fantastic car! We stop at a square on the outskirts of Munich for some pizza and calzones at an Italian cafe before making our journey to Innsbruck, Austria. Cruising down the German autobahn towards Austria is a sight that cannot be explained properly with words. It is breathtakingly beautiful and we are both in awe of the Alps that are surrounding us. Also, ...

... river below your feet! (see pics) Tues - We headed for the Bavarian National Park, Zugspitz. We started out the morning with a couple hour hike around an alpine lake, Eibsee. We planned to go to the top next, but the tram to Germany's highest peak was closed and the upper mountain was shrouded in thick cloud, so we rented a couple of mountain bikes and biked into the countryside for a few hours. The highlight of the ride was the red fox we encountered. ...

... us to over 2,300m above sea level and a short, hard trek took us to the summit. The views one way were stunning but unfortunately cloud impeded our views the other way towards Innsbruck. It was a lot cooler at that altitude and the air thinner. Having conquered the mountain we headed back down towards Innsbruck and visited the Alpen Zoo which included many animals native to the Austrian Alps. We had heaps of fun seeing animals that we'd never seen before like ...
