We had decided the day before to spend the next few days in Luxembourg before returning to Rome. Why Luxembourg, you ask? We know nothing about it so it seemed like a minor adventure. So north we went, out of France, into Germany, then Belgium, and finally Luxembourg where we found a great little hotel WITH WIFI in a charming little town called Dudelange.

... the driver pulled over at a nice-looking bar/restaurant and called Sixt to let them know where we were. Within 15 minutes a taxi pulled up and quickly took us to the airport in Saarbrucken, just across the border into Germany. Sixt definitely had their act together and we had our replacement car in minutes. By this time, it was getting dark and we still had to get back to our hotel -- you know the one, deep in the forest on a road ...
