... WBA game in the bar, but, with 2 minutes of normal time to go we got hit by huge thunderstorm, which found all the leaks in the tents! It also knocked out the electricity supply, so we missed the result. Camped.
12th February Stinking hot & humid. I tried to use the internet, but the connection was so slow I gave up - I had purchased 60 minutes, but after 80 minutes had only used 20 of them! Len, Dan, Ron, Niamh, Zed, ...

Just two rules and we broke them both!!!

... There was also quite a bit of religious signage, much the same as in Ghana. One I especially liked was a prayer meeting offering “Praise, Salvation, Breakthrough ETC”. Not sure what the ETC was...perhaps resurrection?? Anyway, lots more than just the first three.

    ... exploring the streets.

    I then took the rather long walk home which had me very worn out by the time I reached the market by the hotel. Plantain and sauce for lunch in the same place as yesterday.

    Later in the afternoon, I wandered down to the nearby animal sanctuary where I spent a wonderful hour with a family of drill monkeys and three chimpanzees. I came back, rested, supper then bed!

    ... the rain abated and soon we were entering Calabar. Calabar fascinates me and has done since I was a child. The name is almost identical to the name of the birthplace of my mother in Spain. Her village is Calabor. So different!
