We departed Paris and arrived at Heidelberg at around 2pm and made our way to the hostel. The hostel, named The Lotte, was a really homely style hostel, with small dorms of only 8 beds and a communal kitchen and lounge set with vintage furniture and a book swap wall. There was only a few people staying there at the time, but they were all quite …

... very patient with other people in the car. Anyway we got there. The weather was not ideal for much exploring but did a quick look around and had lunch then onto Vaals. We arrived a bit late to go up the tower as it was running in winter closing hours but we got the idea. In any event we walked all the way to the Porta Nigra and got our bearings around town, then returned to the hotel for dinner. Tomorrow will be a long but hopefully interesting ...

Today, we went to Trier (Treves in French). We had been there, as we drove to the Mill, but further research indicated how much we had not had time to explore. We meant to make an early start, but accidentally slept in until 10am. Poor old Matt had a nosebleed during the night, so there was also some washing to do - poor old Miranda and Jonathan must certainly notice 5 house guests!!! Trier is about 50 mins south of St Vith, but luckily, Harry Potter (read by Stephen Fry) accompanies ...
