        Island castle

        This castle was more grand inside than Neuschwanstein and was also in a beautiful location on an island on the lake. All in all it is a must see, even the fountains in the garden are incredible (although these only run in summer months, today was the last day this year, perfect timing).

        What to do with 16 million in the 1870's

        King Ludwig attempted to replicate Versailles and started off pretty well. The rooms that were completed were amazing. This place helped bankrupt Bavaria.
        Miss the monastery tour as it is not worth it unless you are a WW 2 history buff.
        Also don't leave your umbrella in the storage area because it will most likely be stolen like mine was. The website for this place is;
        Www.herrenchiemsee.de
        Be prepared to take a boat ride to the island the palace is on. 7.5€ each.
        Now we have seen all the places built by mad king Ludwig. He liked to get high with a little help from his friends.

        We slept in today :) mum a little too much. She wouldn't get out of bed she was so tired from yesterday lol. We said we would have breakfast at 8am. I made it to the table by 830am but mum wasn't there until 9 o'clock. Poor Ulrike had made her two cups of tea already so it would be waiting for her but they had gone cold. Ulrike had laid out …

        We rented our car first thing in the morning. Some crazy American lady pushed in front of me to complain about her limousine being to small and not being able to fit all her luggage. They gave her a bigger car probably to get rid of her. I rented a station wagon, Skoda. Brand new. Goes fast on the highway. Couldn't get very far very fast as the …

        ... there is another table which had a mechanism to allow it to be winched down into the basement and set and returned to the king's room without any servants coming into the room. The biggest room is the a hall of Mirrors over 90 metres long, with 35 chandeliers holding 2000 plus candles. And again it was never used for state occasions, just for Ludwig. The tour ended at the second staircase which ...
