      ... hadn't realised when we stopped in Bellinzona last night that it is a Unesco World Heritage listed site, as it has 3 magnificent castles built in the 13th, 14th & 15th centuries and surrounded by a high city wall, and then surprisingly the weekend was also Unesco 'open house' weekend, so all buildings were open and free to the public.

      ... town to town. We first went to Varenna and walked around. Then back to Bellagio for lunch on the lake. Then to Managgio and back again to Bellagio. It's all very beautiful here and we are just taking the opportunity to relax. We will use our balcony this evening for gazing into Lake Como and then tomorrow we make the trek to Strasbourg.       ... were given was a private one for the same price! The usual ritual of a private room took over and we dumped our bags and emptied them everywhere. The place looked like a dump in less than 3 minutes. The room was so pleasant and the bed super comfy we spend the afternoon inside It napping while Briony does her diary.       Albeit small, the museum contained some interesting artifacts. Roger found a series of paintings on wood dating to the 15th century to be particularly intriguing. They had been uncovered in a house that had belonged to one of the “elite” during a restoration process. The artist was unknown but was thought to be from the DaVinci era.
