Well the 13 hour train ride from Spain to Switzerland went surprisingly quick. It was difficult to sleep in a reclining seat made of course, tweed fabric but we managed 5-6 hours of light, keep-changing-positions sleep. The views from the train after we woke up in the morning were amazing! Green mountains, distant lakes cows on lush hillsides and small houses sprinkled across the landscape. We arrived in Bern exactly on time ...

... get to a bar which i can only describe as a student type bar. I am not overjoyed but i have a beer anyway and then tug Michael out of there.
On the plus side we got to see the cultural centre which is outdoor with music playing and reminds me of a youth club but outside and accepting of anyone.I still feel old standing there though!

Our 3 day was a lazy day and with Martin and Nicole's permission they agree to us staying ...

He was born with an unusually large bump at the back of his head and doctors had to console his mother that he was OK...

He hated having sweaty feet so he never wore socks..

... Christmas. Every family which celebrates this tradition has a plate of four candles, one to represent each Sunday of the month. When they all gather together to talk and sing Christmas songs they light one candle. It's exciting and special for them to light the last candle because this indicates that it is the last Sunday before Christmas. Although we didn't light any candles at the dinner party it was still a special occasion and I was happy to be a part of it.
