... The river was really neat to see, as were the houses. The view up from the valley floor was incredible as well. This was a quick little part of our day, but worth mentioning!

The other thing I forgot was the scariest part of our trip. That's only because I'm terrified of heights, Jonathan was fine. We climbed the tower of the town hall building to get the view at the top. I guess I didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into, but maybe the fact that only ...

So it's late afternoon on our first full day in Rothenburg. I didn't get to blog last night due to an experience we had with two Army reserve officers stationed in Germany, but I'll get to that.

Three trains later, (including two ICE's travelling a @ 240 kph much to Alex's delight) and 12 hours later we arrived in Nuremberg and met phil and Volker and picked up the cars to drive to Bayreuth. Dinner at our hotel was noisy as the ...

... farms had panels on the barns as well! Why not? About 1 pm we arrived in Rothenburg. Just outside the old walled city, there were supermarkets and gas stations. Then John parked the bus, and we all walked through a gate in the wall and were in another century, with cobbled streets and colorfully stuccoed steep-roofed buildings. Our hotel is so amazingly quaint and lovely that we are going to post lots of pictures of it! After unpacking, we all ...
