Arrived at Linz today which is the third largest city in Austria. Population 200,000, and is home Austria's largest steel company. From here we travel in the historic Majestic Emperor train to Salsberg. The train is very ornate and gives you an idea of what it was like to travel in style so many years ago. We had a coach trip around the city and then a walking tour followed by 2 hours free time. We had ...

... back into Germany to continue our ride. And what a great ride it was, real variety through some very nice scenery, mainly rural but villages, towns and farms at regular intervals. ... us in, locked our bikes away and in no time at all we were warm, dry and fed. A planned afternoon ride around the area had to be cancelled due to the rather nasty showers and thunder storms that were coming through at regular intervals. Lucky for us this hotel (Inn Hotel, Simbach) is brand new (6weeks old) has a combo coffee shop / restaurant / bakery on the ground floor and a supermarket next door. So we could lounge around, drink coffee, eat cake, get drunk (as if) ...

... each with a church steeple sticking up to mark their place in Germany. The wind was from behind us all the way except for a few brief periods when we double backed. We were pleased to have a tailwind on this rather long day. Arrived at the hotel about 2:30pm. The crops in this area of Germany are of incredible quality and bigger areas than we've seen closer to the big cities. We met the Inn River today which we are going to follow for ...
