    Central Location a real bonus

    This hotel is situated in the heart of Dunedin just off the Octogon. It is associated with the casino but unless you are interested in playing at the casino it will not impinge on your stay. Really comfortable beds and room facilities are excellent. Dining room a little lacking in charcter but food fine.

    After a lie in we headed out for breakfast and to see what Dunedin had in store. After spending the last couple of weeks in isolated hotels and cycling through the wilderness Dunedin seems really busy.

    ... too bad as we didn't have far to go before we got back onto SH 1 that would take us back north to continue our trek up the east coast. The highway out of Dunedin goes straight up and over a massive hill that surrounds the city. The highway north took us through numerous cities that at times seemed to go on forever as most of them are pinned between the hills and the ocean. We passed through Palmerston, Oamaru, Timaaru, and Temuka before turning inland ...
