I really enjoyed this hotel, the view of the mountains was beautiful and the reception desk was really friendly and helpful. It is located on the main road and close to the hot pools and some amazing restaurants.

Breakfast 7.30 am We leave at 8.30 and head for Arrowtown, a real Wild West looking place. It is unfortunately raining and chilly so most of us head for a cafe for a warm drink. We have a lovely drive to Lake Hawea and the Hawae Conservation Park, and the sun shines with the snow capped mountains- looking like icing sugar on the top. Soon we reach …

We rocked into Christchurch without a care in the world, until family Brennan were pulled into a separate immigration line while the rest of the group went ahead. As it turns out you cannot bring foreign honey into New Zealand (too late for that now) anyway it was confiscated after a search throughout our luggage the honey smugglers were free to go …

          Day 74 - Tues. 10th. Feb.
Took the local train up to Arthur's Pass at top of the Southern Alps. The train took us through the alluvial plains of Canterbury, a big farming area. At Arthur's Pass we rejoined the coach for the scenic drive down to the west coast to a small town called Hokitika for lunch.
The beach at Hokitika is, like many …

... of seconds we would be falling to earth. Suresh and I looked at each other for last minute comfort.......

Before I knew it, Suresh had disappeared into the clouds, and then it was my turn to jump from the aircraft. The feeling was unreal and one that literally took our breath away. Falling at 120mph, initially above thick clouds, then through the clouds and finally on the other side of the clouds where we could see the earth below us!!! I couldn't even hear ...

... NZ roads may not be entirely harmless... Apparently there was one near FJ which was a mobile meth lab!! Breaking Bad (not seen it) meets a population of about 200 people. I'm here in the quiet season or the in between Seasons season. In the summer the town's population increases by x150 to 3000-5000 and there are about a 1000 people on the glacier.Ccrazy and glad I'm here when I am Think I took some ...
