... boarding very small boats in a cramped tunnel then descending into what would be absolute darkness. The only reason it was not darkness of course was the presence of thousands of glowworms lighting up the inside of the grotto like the night sky. Quite a unique and slightly eerie experience having to keep completely silent in the dark and not move around incase you hit the walls of the cave, it was a bit like I imagine how being kidnapped by fairies would feel. It ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand samsonite32... Bar. The Monkey bar is really cool as it is a nightclub in a old Cathedral, where you have disco balls hanging from the top of the cathedral ceiling. The place was massive and had some really good songs, when the place started to fill up it becamea real good time, with the dance floor packed and cheap drinks, we stayed there till 3pm, stopped off at the American Embassy (McDonalds) for a burger before heading to bed.
Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand leehorscraft... still see some light but they didn't seem to like that... poor things! I also saw a seal on the drive up there, from a distance I thought it was a dog, then as we got closer I wondered what was wrong with this 'dog' as it couldn't walk properly... then it dawned on me that it wasn't a dog after all! The next day we went to the free Otago Museum which mostly focused on Maori and Polynesian history, migration and culture. We then set off on the journey to Wanaka.

Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand bowkerexploits... of flying and gliding. I was concerned about missing the penguins, which as it turned out, I needn't have been. Shortly after we arrived a sea lion was spotted patrolling the water in front of the beach upon which the penguins would land. We anxiously waited. We can only assume the penguins had seen their foe too, because, instead of the estimated time of arrival of 9.15 p.m. it was nearer 9.45 p.m. before first one, then two or three and then ...
Portobello, South Island, New Zealand john2112... enough we headed back to the camp-site, to see what was happening for new year. We decided that the kitchen was the best place to start, but there was no one there. We ate some soup and drank some gin and tonic (followed by some more) and decided to see what was on the TV. It turned out that there was no New Year programming at all. We kept switching channel, but the only thing we found was a channel playing music videos that put a count down over ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand nick.maynard... bathroom with big sink unit and shower but no bath, sadly) and discovering I had a balcony, complete with fantastic view and a chair, I had immediate pang to sit in my chair, drink white wine and watch the sun go down. Therefore promptly set off along incredibly windy and stress-inducing (but very pretty) coastal road once more to locate and purchase wine. I am living in permanent fear that I will take my eyes off the road for a split second and end up in ...
Den forgangne uge kaldes her i Dunedin for Re-Orientation Week. Det vil sige den uge, hvor alle forelæsninger blot er informationer om hvad, der skal ske i løbet af semesteret. Det synes ikke at være noget Kiwi'erne er særligt interesserede i, så ugen bruges ...
Dunedin, New Zealand slumber... them, and some of the younger ones were playing around in the tide pools. After we got back to Dunedin I had dinner at a Lebanese place. I had a lamb pita, which was excellent. The next day, of course, was the Taieri Gorge Railway trip. It was a lot of fun, as I mentioned. I'm not sure I have anything to add until I get some pictures posted. Dinner Saturday night was Indian. It was also quite good. I think that's all I have to add for now. Hopefully I'll post some pictures soon.
