Coast, Tivoli

Sunny and reasonably warm day so I opt for the outside. I head to Denmark's biggest beach, Amager Strand. I walk the coastline. A few people are out tanning, a few out playing sports. Pretty beach with nice dunes but oil tanks, etc on the edges. Definitely not the crowds I expect in Spain. The most densely populated tanning area is actually across from my hostel, right along the river. There is a pool built into the river.

Before dinner, I stop by Tivoli ...

32 AMERICAN dollars for a hamburger???

... busy looking chain. Once i applied for a small personal loan, I purchased what could only be described as two mugs of warm milk for basically $9 each. I'm grumpy when i get bad coffee. I'm a monster when i've shelled out almost $20. Nevermind, the WHOLE point of coming here was to go swimming since we had wasted all the hot sunny days on viking ships and pesant markets. The only thing we seemed to find was bad weather, so we gave up and headed north to Helsing ...

Reflecting on History

... 2) want to learn more about the Danish heritage - and boy is it a long one. It definitely makes me feel like our American history is so young. One portion of the museum contains old coins (the Royal Coin Collection) and, while I'm not generally interested in coins, it was so cool to take the time to look at the individual pieces. Who are the people on the coin? How are they significant? How did they make the coin? How long is the process?

I'm glad that I've ...

European Travels: Denmark-Copenhagen Day 3

... as my clothes were dangling off the edge. Finally, it was my turn. I stepped up to the check-in counter, set down my purse and luggage. The woman at the front desk asked me for my passport, and as I reached into my purse to pull out my notebook full with all my travel information, including my password ... my heart gradually started to accelerated. Where is my notebook? I just had it. Think Tori Think. A thousand thoughts were racing ...

The Beginning of a Journey

... be an exciting holiday, the question remaining was exactly how challenging it would be -especially for me, since I was at the time considered a brand new beginner in the world of scuba diving. -I did have 12 dives on my conscience though, however, 10 of them are 5 years old! Following a meal, a terribly uncomfortable snooze and roughly 4½ hours, we flew over the strip of hotels and swimming pools surrounding the tourist magnet of Hurghada ...

X-yachts Gold Cup Day 4

... and Jesper were in mid deck awkwardly trying not to collapse on each other, while I was on the high side of the boat just holding on. I was very conflicted about trying to help Kalle and Gugge since I was closest to them, but me being half their size saw the folly in that. Much yelling was going on behind me, but I kept to my self and made sure that I was all right and out of the way of whatever they were planning to do to rectify the situation. Maybe after about a minute or two ...

Beautiful, Beautiful Copenhagen

... it was a great way to spend the afternoon. As we were all booked into ridiculously small hotel rooms apart from one lady who had booked an apartment, we all swooped on her apartment for some preparation before the World Barista Competition began the next day. Jeff managed to escape from his meeting also we a dozen of us all congregated at Elenora's apartment, ironing clothes and shirts, tasting samples of his "signature drink" and drinking beer ...

First Aarhus Sunday

... a five metres "BOY" squatting down. There is really such a person in real life and looks a a bit scary. After reaching the town, we settled down for a McDonald's burger. I bought their new favor: Chicken Salsa Burger , 15 krones, $4.30. Their set meal, say McChicken Meal costs 70 krones, $19 (Ridiculous!) Heard from Gerald that Denmark has the most expensive McDonald meal. Burger King is cheaper in Denmark compared to McDonald. So MISS Singapore McDonald.

... of Carlsberg here for about $3.50 Australian. Also you're not allowed to drink beer outside if you bought it from a bar, only if it's from a bottleshop etc. However, I do what I want with MY beer and no one would dare challenge an Australian on that. On Wednesday the 5th I went on a canal tour along with hundreds of other students. A fairly touristy thing there's not much to tell you but I have included some cool pictures. Oh yes and when designing and ...

... down Stroget and did some major shopping! I went into a couple stores, but spent the majority of my time in New Yorker and H&M... and do I ever wish we had these stores in Regina! At 5:00 the stores closed, so I walked a little further down Stroget, and found the Mexican restaurant I'd eaten at the first night I was in Copenhagen. Here I ordered tacos and a beer, and when it started raining I ordered another beer and ice cream for desert, and just sat and ...
