Whats typical Norwegian

I went to Stavanger in june to attend the beach volleyball world tour, but when I got there I
fund so much else to do that I didnt find the time to watch the volleyball. Its was insane, and
the best part is that everything is so close that you can do alot in one day. I spendt 10 days there
and it is without doubt the best vacation I have ever been on.

Lysefjord is everything I have heard it would be!

... They are off to see GI Joe, Rise of the Cobra. It was moot to have been invited....but I was...invited.....good heavens...there couldn't be anything more offensive to me. Hmmm.....evening alone....put on some Coltraine.....or violent Americana rife with gratuitous sex scenes....hmmm. Quick decision there!

So.....I think I got the better deal....wrote a blog....uploaded some recent photos....all is well is the world!

Tussen Tak! (Thankyou very much!)

The Lysefjord near Stavanger

Another couple mad train rides from Bergen to Oslo and then over to Stavanger took us to small oil town, from where we would make our way to the beautiful lyseford. The fjord is quite deep, and we came to take the hike up to the Preikestolen, high above the fjord. The hike was great, and though we were soaked by rain upon arriving in Stavanger, it wasn't too bad during the 2 hour trek up.

Norway: two hikes in two days

... is very different from the US's. Seems to me the main concern here is to keep it as natural as much as possible so there are very little improvement/construction. The going was not easy; sometimes I had to climb up or down big boulders, and most of the time I must choose my steps very carefully to avoid a fall. The standard time to reach the rock is 2 hrs, and I did that with less time. The rock is quite famous and rightly so: it is impressive, the view from it ...

Stavanger, European Capital of Culture

... at Randaberg, at the outskirs of Stavanger. Nearby at Vistehola, a 6000-year old settlement from the stone age. I was met in Stavanger by my relatives who lives near Sola - which has Norway's only sandy beach. From my window I can see Hafsfjord - where the first king of a united Norway, Harald Hårfagre (Harald Fairhair), is said to have defeated the last ...

... door, but Ryan invited us to use his dormitory kitchen to cook the salmon. We did and had a great time hanging out with the other travelers staying at the hostel. As we were eating our salmon and drinking our beers, we chatted with Lori, Ryan, and this German fellow who showed off his electric fly swatter. He loved it and even demonstrated the abilities for us. Throughout ...

... We are currently in Stavanger and I won't explain in great detail what we've done for the pictures speak for themselves. The Fjords here are really beyond description and we've had the pleasure of seeing them on beautiful, clear days. Yesterday we hiked to 'Pulpit rock' which is an astonishing place, a wonderful part of the world to witness before our return home. We remain in Stavanger tonight and then we are staying in Olso again before flying home. Its been a wonderful ...

... way past the market square selling fruits and flowers to the beautiful Gamle Stavanger. The Gamle is located next to the harbour. 187 houses from the 18th century have been preservered as "Old Stavanger" (Gamle Stavanger). It's a residential area and there are some shops there too and a sardine canning musuem. The path were all cobblestone and too narrow for any car to past. We tried to visit the Stavanger Domkirke, Norway's oldest church (1125; LP neglect ...
