Sjolyst Plass 5 Oslo, Oslo, Norway, 0212, 2315-5100
I keep running into events that I didn't even know were on - today being the day that the Oslo marathon is run. Good thing for us though is it didn't disrupt the early rush to the airport at all. Found out that apparently it's not enough to just check-in online & print your tickets, but it seems you are still supposed to check in exactly how many bags when you arrive at the airport using the computer screens before approaching bag drop.
Oslo is only a short hop away, and when we go...
Whoa. I'm trying to think straight but my eyelids are as swollen as my feet tonight. We did a lot of walking today. This morning, we woke as our ferry was making its way through the Oslo fjords. We docked around 9:30 AM and drove our car, oops - I mean Todd's car, to Norway's newest attraction - their new Opera house. It was amazing. Nick & Annie loved the fact that they were actually walking on the ceiling of the building. Julie- you'll never believe this but as I was checking out the pl...

Oslo, Oslo, Norway cariverga... beautiful scenery and many little towns that are serviced by the boat. We also saw a glacier off in the distance. The low density of towns was impressive as was the tiny-ness of some of these "towns" (often just a group of houses). It was nothing compared to the remoteness we were to see later in the trip though.

Coming next...Bergen

Melanie and Chris
Oslo, Norway chronometers... ships tell a lot about the Vikings and their history. I find myself wondering how people in the 19th century managed to design and build such a structure. Without the help and use of technology. Now, we can't do anything without cranes and computers. Are we getting dumber?

My second favourite site was the ski jump in Holmenkollen. Situated high above Oslo, on a beautiful day, I admired the panoramic view of the city. The ...
Oslo, Norway sqm... centerpiece of the garden being the large monument in the middle of a large plaza surrounded by many of Gustav Vigeland's sculptures. I particularly enjoyed the gates surrounding the plaza, which were inspiring and beautiful (see photo). Everyone seemed to relax some at this point. From here we took the subway and a tram, heading to the Henrik Isben museum, and a tour of his residence (the museum is on the first and second floor of the apartment ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway ohiolair... at the museum very tight, I'm guessing as a result of the theft! That afternoon we checked out the Royal Palace, and then the Town Hall, before hopping a boat over to the Viking Ship Museum, to check out the centuries old Viking Ships. The ships were found in the hills around Oslo around 150 years ago, and date back to AD800. I found it fascinating that the Vikings journeyed over the Atlantic in similar boats. The ones in the ...

Oslo, Norway oyvindsandve... eventful, The bus, I was pleased to see, was quite comfortable I, like my fellow travelers tried to get some sleep as the 8 hour drive took place at night, but I was barely able to sleep for an half an hour, so I spent most of the time looking out at the landscape, as we were driving past Dovre(mountain) I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the muskox(a big animal, kinda looks like a gigantic, fat, hairy ox), but no such luck... At 7 a.m the bus finaly arrived in ...
Oslo, Norway camilia... good. After eatting my fill of lunch, I decided to walk around Karl Johann's gate more, particularly in this little shopping gallerie where the restaurant was located in. One thing I noticed about Oslo while I was there is that apparently the Norwegians like to shop and that they love chains and name brands. A lot of the stores were apparently that, chains but there were a lot of nice posh clothing stores from all ...
