      ... we could goose wing with no engine and we achieved speeds of 6 knots plus for a while and later, when we’d turned in a more easterly direction, we were on a reach ie both sails on the same side. Sadly, this sailing idyll only lasted a short while as the wind died and by 10:15 the engine was back on, to remain so for the rest of the trip.       Me and Mom travelling with the Transsiberian Railway, including stops in Moscow, Mongolia and Beijing. We had to get up quite early to walk to the train station (abt 2 km) to go to Arlanda, Stockholm. How come you always end up being late and having to walk faster than you want?? Still, we did have enough time to catch the train - of course...

      ... that predate 1719 are the (ironically) tower that was the watch tower built to guard against future fires after the 1600 conflagration and one of the two churches. The Russians venerated St Nicholas (patron saint of sailors and something else but I can’t remember what, maybe merchants) and they decided that they would not burn down St Nick’s church. Sadly, they got the wrong one and St Nick’s was raised and the other church remains.
