... is right on the water, next to the Viking Ship Museum. I spend the afternoon walking around. It has the neat homes going back to the 1600s with the reed roofs. The church, Roskilde Domkirke, is huge and very intricate.

As another aside, I am listening to my university lectures, one of which is on the derivation of the English language. Yes, I am a geek. Quite timely, there are references to the Scandinavians establishing themselves in ...
Roskilde, Zealand, Denmark will.traveller... ARE LIKE CRACK) and coffee. It was delicious! We then drove back to Copenhagen and saw the queen's palace and The Little Mermaid (a famous statue). My friends and I then signed out of the trip and checked into a hostel---which was surprisingly nice. It had four twin beds, a little fridge, a table, a closet, and a private bathroom. It was all very modest, but must nicer than I expected. Plus, the location was prime! Copenhagen is a very unique city. When looking at ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark rubr9124... storage at the train station. Arrrgh ... but it's probably the first complaint about the book, so far this trip. I skipped the Viking Museum, because I've already seen one in Oslo - it's supposedly more focused on the actual Viking ship building, but who really cares? I also skipped out on Frederiksborg castle; I'll see plenty of castles when I get to Germany. There wasn't much going on ...
Roskilde, Zealand, Denmark betuca28th Arrive at the Station and phone my friend for directions. Meet Simon (Maltese) who asks for directions, we help him to the Festival ( he stays with us for the rest of it) as he has about 6 bags as he has just come from uni. The walk takes about an hour, then arrive at the festival entrance which is mental! people with tents set up in the queue, we set up my tent and ...
Roskilde, Zealand, Denmark betuca... the SAS Hotel at Amager in Copenhagen for the night as a compensation for the delay. So leaving the airport back to the city was quite weird: we were leaving but we had not really left yet despite being prepared for it. Still being quite upset, even though the nice view of Copenhagen helped a bit, I now have to get some sleep in before the flight tomorrow early. I'll be back soon with more from the Far East!
Copenhagen, Denmark madsern86... on my third day here I vistited Assisstens Kirkegaard. Essentially this Kirkegaard (or Church/Grave yard) is a massive, ancient (and I use the term in a hyperbolic sense as it is not really ancient, seriously if you believed this graveyard pre-dated Christ, or whatever the temporal benchmark is that determines ancientness, you are a silly muffin without any chocolate bits, just bran ...
Copenhagen, Denmark lordcool... loved every minute of snuggling up in her thick feathered doona... You would too if you had been crawling out of a single skin 2 man tent with barely a sleeping mat protecting your hips from the stones under the ground sheet and nothing to keep the rain (condensation, yer right.) from dripping on your head in the morning. Don't get me completely wrong! I love camping. But pitching up nearest the tourist attraction/city/town you hope to catch a glimpse of ...
Copenhagen, Denmark jolsxjme... is to the sea. We loved to sit outside with an ice cream and just people watch. This was by far our favorite place in the city. 2. Stroget - the world's longest pedestrian shopping street was a wonder. We bought very little beause the Danish currency is so incredibly strong (truthfully I saved all my seirous shopping for Prague and Poland for the better prices), but we enjoyed running in and out of various posh shops. This street also had an amazing ...
