Time to play the tourist - without the clichés!!

... other as if to kiss the other. Each building is a burst of colour. Red. Green. Yellow. Blue. Behind the bustle of the city you sit at the cafe in the line of buildings and order your coffee in perfect Danish (no one will ever know you are not a local). You pearch yourself on the seat they have outside underneath a lantern and a rug you can pull over you for warmth. As you sip the hot liquid a snowflake lands on your nose and it is a sign of things to ...

Velkommen til København!

... the not so beautiful parts of town as they are a rough in the diamond so to speak! - Inside is lovely it is white but not sterile more modern and surprisingly spacious with a studio unit type format with my own bathroom and kitchen. I have a desk and bed (the essentials but in other essentials I will need to purchase i.e. kettle, sheets, toaster etc etc) Lucky the boxing day sales are still on here if you can brave the weather and crowds. Halloween!

... we cut the line from the opposite side and basically walked straight in after talking to the bouncers for a little while. Some other people had to wait 45 minutes to get in.   Inside the club, we had a good time, dancing, laughing at other people's costumes and talking to random people. Overall it was a great night & a fantastic introduction to Halloween for me. I knew Halloween would be good with a bunch of Americans!

Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen

... a Dane) who designed the Sydney Opera House, it is a similarly grand building that combines many design elements for a unique and spectacular structure. The guide told us that it cost over 2 billion kroner, or about $400 million to construct. We also passed a modern addition to their National Library, the "black diamond building." The name comes from the fact that the structure is faced in dark glass ...

Day Six - Helsingborg

... We both had the tiramisu for dessert and while good, it wasn't great. After dinner I participated in the Blackjack Tournament. I amazed myself and ended up qualifying in second place. Had to wait until 11:45pm for the final, but it was pretty exciting. You start with $1,000 in $100 chips. You can bet as much or as little as you'd like, but they only play seven hands. Coming down to the last hand, chip count was between me and one other (Lucien form London ...

... all of the bugs in sight flew to Jessie's bright yellow shirt. It was pretty funny. Once arriving to the museum, we watched a short film which explained that the museum held five Viking ships. These ships were found in the Roskilde fjord and were excavated piece by piece in 1962. It took 25 years to put the ships back together. After touring the museum, we had a picnic lunch outside. The bus then dropped us off at the train station. We ...

Copenhagen, Denmark

... how bad it would have been during the height of summer. Here comes the train time to stop making fun of other travelers. The train to Copenhagen was an ICE fast train, at least it would have an AC power plug. This train did something else that I've never seen before, about an hour into our journey, the train took a ferry. The tracks go right up to the dock and the train rolls right on the bottom deck with all the cars and semi-trucks. The ferry from Germany to southern Denmark only ...

My Things

... forward in time to evaluate our conversational topics at Tom's party and then returned to the past (his present) and studied a myriad of texts on Copenhagen's history in a successful attempt to astound me with his expertness. Likely? No. But certainly plausible. So we ate and it was good. Briefly I will tell you about J-day. J-day is a big event in Copenhagen as it marks the arrival of many, many trucks to this fair city. What kind of ...

My First Few Days

... we disagreed over the morality of stealing but not reeling, a fishing line that is. That ought to about do it. I'll tell you about Tom, the logistics of my bedroom and also my cool stroll to Kirkegaard in my next entry as I am now weary and longing for repose. Sleep sound my children. Interesting tidbit, the exchange rate over here is heaps better than Crapstralia. P.S. I'm going to take some photos of the Jegtvej activist's work tomorrow so watch out!

Last weekend in Copenhagen

... s house! Made for a festive atmosphere through the city! That night, Sarah and I decided to check out the IceBar first -- it is one of a chain of IceBars that derive from the IceHotel I visited earlier this year. There are others in Stockholm, London, Tokyo and Milan. You get a big poncho type thing and boots and head into the room to get your drink in the ice glass. Pretty cool, although of course, the real hotel was much cooler :) We then went to ...
