... joints decked out like an old tram car.
Had a burger with curry sauce and caviar which was one the best burgers I've ever had - and the first time I've had caviar on a burger but it was a good combo!
After that went for drinks at Hornsleth bar which is apparently owned by the artist of the same name and had some of his freaky photos decorating the place.
Sunday I headed back to Christiansborg Slot and saw the underground ruins and Royal ...
... the most prominent sight on the horizon are the modern type of windmills: Denmark produces 20% of its electricity by wind power, so these silent, graceful turbines represent a suitable welcome to tourists, travellers and sailors alike.
DFDS laid on a bus into town for its passengers (what a great company). We got off in a square called Kongens Nytorv, and decided to head for the train station in the hope we could dump our bags. Quite by accident, we ended up strolling down ...
... although we couldn’t see into it, we thoroughly enjoyed what we could hear. It was an electronic band we didn’t know called The Whitest Boys Alive. They were very chilled out and we just lay there listening to the exact music we felt like. They won two new fans.
When they finished, we moved up into the front of the stage to see the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. They had a giant eye on stage with them which was a bit creepy. It wasn’t amazing, but it ...
... to get drunk). Gas tax makes the price of gas in this oil-producing country amount to $6.5 a gallon. The health care that this cradle-to-grave social welfare system offers makes you wait for non-emergency surgeries - a hip replacement may involves a two months (or 2 years? I don't remember what I was told) wait, while the government pays you your regular salary if you cannot work because of your condition, a very inefficient way to spend the public ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark chan_hcJust one day in the Copenhagen Airport but it was nice enough to convince us it needs a return trip, but later in life when we can save up, it is very expensive. With so little time, what can one do in Copenhagen? We went for the local specialty and dug into a jar of caviar, delicious and fairly cheap.
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark arikandcharisFriday the 15th August Had a great nights sleep and woke up to a beautiful morning. Peter and Søren were going to play golf. Marianne and I were planning a trip to town, possibly Tivoli. First I needed to take some photos of her for her CV and Facebook. We took quite a few. Wonderful to be able to download them straight away and see how we were doing. Eventually we headed into town. We parked by the new Theatre opposite the Opera. They were building the theatre last time ...
Copenhagen, Denmark friiskiwi... Some lady was leaving and gave me her remaining time, almost 30 minutes worth! After, it was back to the hostel, where I found some new bunkmates from the UK. They were here for the Roskilde music festival - I had no idea that it was such a massive festival! They apologized for their smell, having not showered in four days - I joked "You don't smell too terribly, considering it's been four days!" I'm such a nice guy, aren't I?
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark pwong... by a mile. Besides seeing the sights, nothing more to report. There is the Killer Snorer though. You can hear everyone groaning last night with the endless snores. Because he sleeps right above me (he has the top bunk), I felt pressure from the room to poke the guy and say something since I was the closest. Not knowing if the guy was 100 lbs of skin and bones or 250 pounds of muscle, I decided to "accidentally" hit the bottom of his bunk bed while I was re ...
Copenhagen, Denmark dinovagabond... Square" and Nyhavn was increasingly blanketed by darkness. As the sun disappeared, the neon lights of the restaurants and pubs increasingly lit up. The crowd showed no sign of dispersing, but I had enough. When it was completely dark, I stood up and went home to sleep. I cut down the shortest possible way, first across Kongens Nytorv, and then along the Gothersgade street, which in turn led me right to those artificial, shallow, rectangular lakes. Ferederiksberg was just across, on the other side.
København, Denmark the_wayfarerHello everybody! I haven't gone yet but I certainly am getting ready to GO! I will arrive at Copenhagen, Denmark on 8/8/07 and won't have an hotel room :-( this because of a fashion fare that will last for three days. It just wiped out my chances for a room in Copenhagen. I guess I will have to stay in Malmo Sweden (35 min by train) Only 16 days but I can't wait for a trip of a lifetime (gonna be broke for the rest of it...:-) )
