... of these fish recipes from her before I forget). Yesterday we drove around Siljansjö, which is a large lake and then checked out the town of Mora and went to a Dalicarlian wooden horse factory. Most of the rest of the time we've been hiking around the area and enjoying scrumptious pastries. So soon my journey will be coming to a close as I return to NY. I hope you all enjoyed my travel blog!
Leksand, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danwstephensHey all,
I went to uppsala which was a forty minute train ride because there was a few things I wanted to see there and where happened to be my hotel. Uppsala had actually burned down a while back and was rebuilt. It is smaller than I expected. I saw the castle there (not too spectacular) but the botanical gardens (part of the castle) was. It was beautiful.
I was sure the departure was at 11:30. But apparently Im smarter than myself... must have looked up the schedule earlier, seen it is at 15:10 and counted that a good time to leave my house is at 11:30. And let that number stick to my head. So I thought I had to go around 8 in the ...
Uppsala, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden mandita... just right. It wasn't too short and not too long. The last presentation was mine and was entitled "The Gospel of the Kingdom of God." We passed out the last of the handouts and tidied up the meeting hall. A number of our people had to leave on the 1:06 PM train that headed towards Stockholm. Some of the brethren such as the Asians both in Norway and Finland had to leave earlier for their respective destinations. We are talking about doing ...
Leksand, Sweden victorkubik... seminars make up for some of that. Our Asian brethren from Norway and Finland were very appreciative of getting together as well. For some it had been years since any kind of meeting. The two families were Klo Gay and Margaret Doh from Kemi, Finland and K Paw Gay and her husband Hteser from Trondheim, Norway who also brought along their children Elvis and Has Mee Hoo. At the Summer Gathering ...
Leksand, Sweden victorkubik... to the airport and the train station that is right at the airport. Tickets were a bit higher than we thought they would....about $200 each to Leksand and back to Stockholm. On the train we met Dorthea from Denmark. She also flew in this morning and our group is growing as we're getting acquainted on the train on the way to the Gathering. In three hours we arrive in Leksand with one train ...
Falun, Sweden owinI went to Sweden to visit a friend of a friend! We had a great time - I was staying with him at his University Halls and made loads of really great new friends from all over the world. It snowed, it rained, it flooded - and then it for so hot we were sunbathing! I had a fantastic time visiting the local museums, getting drunk, getting to know more about traditional Swedish culture and came home with many great memories.
Stockholm/Falun, Sweden georgia910... back-bone of Sweden's economy for several hundred years according to the guide there (who turned out to be Finnish and seemed to enjoy bashing Swedes). At one point this mine accounted for 70% of the world's copper, though this was back in the 1700's. The mine was shut down in 1992, but remains open for visits. It was also a great escape down into the subbterrainian world where it was a nice and cool 5 degrees centigrade (40 F ...
