Arrival Copenhagen

After a long flight we checked in to our motel early and took a long hot shower to relieve all the airline bumps and bruises . We then set of to explore copenhaghten . This city is very beautiful ,clean and modern with excellent buildings that are both colourful and interesting to us tourists . We wound our way down through a pedestrian only street that was wall to wall people due to a long weekend in Denmark to the canals where we embarked a canal cruise that further explained the history an...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Scandic Copenhagen City

Very good hotel in a convenient central location

from reluctantflier
My husband and I stayed at the Scandic Copenhagen twice during a recent trip through Europe. Overall, we liked the hotel. It is an easy 10 minute walk from the central train station (even towing luggage) and just a block from the Vesterport subway station. It is also very close to Tivoli (right across from the train station) and much of central Copenhagen. The breakfast selection was vast and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. Free wireless internet was a definite bonus.

During our first stay, we had a room on the 9th floor, which was very spacious. The room had 2 twins, but you could easily push them together. A third person could have easily slept on the sofa that ran the entire length of the room under the window. We had a view of the city, which was nice. We didn't have any trouble at all.

During our second stay, we were given a smoking room on the 3rd floor, when we had requested a nonsmoking room. I was told they didn't have any non-smoking rooms left. I thought we'd try keeping the window open, but we couldn't do so through the entire night because the room is on the corner of a busy intersection and it was pretty loud. We kept the window open the entire next day and it helped a bit. So if you like sleeping with the window open, ask for a room on a higher floor or if in the lower (smoking?) floors, not in the 20s. We had 322 and I think there may have been one more room at the end of the hall.

Except for that slight snafu, we liked the Scandic Copenhagen and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it especially if you can get a room free through Hilton Honors like we did. We are pretty basic travelers, and this hotel made Copenhagen a lovely experience for us.

Not even up to Scandic Standards

from A TripAdvisor Member
There are a few very good Scandics (e.g. in Helsinki, Turku, Nijmegen (NL)), but the main one in Copenhagen really disappointed me. I am a HHonors Diamond VIP member and on points received a room on the 14th floor. The room is a decent size, the furniture and bed is about OK but the bathroom is old and terrible. Really not up to even Scandic standards. Also service is slow and minimal.

Water and fruit for VIP members is not in rooms any more at all Scandics, but has to be collected from the reception / lobby. However, in this hotel they only display it between 4pm and 8pm and really look funny at you when you ask for it outside these hours.

Also on leaving the room at 9am we displayed the "please clean up my room" sign, but at return at 1.30pm (for my pregnant wife's nap) it was still not cleaned. When I asked I was told that it was our room's turn around 3pm.

Even though from HHonors point redemption (only 10000 points as all Scandics) this hotel is a steal, I will not return. Would rather stay at the Hilton at airport and take the train to CPH downtown.

Not worth it.

I leave a one-star rating simply because, by international standards, this is exactly what this hotel is worth. The rooms, unless you're staying on the 18th floor which has its own elevator, are worn down and tired. The location is great, but the service is unpredictable depending upon whom you speak with. As for the hotel bar, it's complete trash. The bar tender "Thomas" insisted that my husband and I run a tab for our convenience, only to present us with a bill triple of what we ordered. As a Scandinavian, I am embarrassed for this level of service, and as a Hilton Honors member (whom Scandic is part of) I am extremely disappointed.

Good Hotel - Served its purpose

from A TripAdvisor Member
Good location, good facilities and service. Room was clean and relatively spacious for inner city hotel. We were three (me, my wife and 2 year old) and the the sofa at the window converts into bed which was very convenient. Decor was not impressive but everything was very functional and we were very satisfied.

Basic tourist hotel in city center

from gobob
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in June 2005. The hotel is about three blocks from the Tivoli Gardens, the main train/subway stations and nearby shooping and restaurants, and is located across the street from a nice canal with running paths. The hotel (associated with Hiltons in the US) was nice, clean and businesslike inside, with a nice cafe/bar in the lobby. The hotel also includes breakfast in your room package, which was a diverse buffet-style spread in the rear restaurant. Our room was clearly a smoking room, but it aired out with a window open for the afternoon. The queen bed was actually two twins pushed together, but they were comfortable and clean. The bathroom needed some renovation, but was relatively clean and the shower was strong (which is always a plus). I'm sure you could do better if you were willing to pay a premium, but you could surely do worse than this hotel.

Excellant centrally located hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Enjoyed a lovely weekend break in the Scandic Copenhagen. We had a room on the 10th floor with lovely views over the city. Rooms are quite comfortable and clean but the hotel (and especially the Red Lion bar) is in need of renovation. Staff were very friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you.

The hotel is ideally located for exploring Copenhagen and is only a 5 minute walk from the Central station and Tivoli gardens.

Perfect location

from weejim
Stayed 5 nights on business at the Scandic, and not for the first time.(probably 8th - company preference) Rooms good, especially if you get a high floor, Food average, service OK. Red Lion pub, the in hotel bar has limited opening hours and lobby bar is very dull. No easily accessble stairs and lifts are terrible so getting up and down to your room can take 15 mins.

Good all round hotel

from munkypete
The hotel is centrally situated only 5-10 minutes walk from the central railway station. 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of town.

Large lobby area with bar and lounge (very smokey). Huge breakfast room with a good selection of breakfast fayre, breakfast room is all non smoking.

The room was typical Scandinavian. Basic and clean, wooden floor, TV, mini bar, with either view across the city or the lakes (big ponds more like). Fixed toiletries in the bathroom. Non smoking rooms. Internet access in Lobby.

Room was very warm, even with the air conditioning on.

Reception staff very friendly and speak perfect English.

As an aside, beware Copenhagen seems to close for bank holidays and winter. We were there for Easter and many attractions were closed, including the Tivoli Gardens.

Comfortable Hotel in Centre of Copenhagen

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just spent 3 nights in this Hotel. Only a 10 minute walk to a great selection of bars & restaurants. Rooms are small but comfortable. Mini gym, with modern equipment available along with large saunas. If you like to start the day with a good breakfast then this is the place to stay, excellent choice & also caters for visitors from the APAC region. Only complaint, as a business traveller, was lack of decent access to be able to download e-mail from my laptop. Had to use dial-up, which was incredibly slow & expensive.

Nice Hotel, Good Location

from RainyJo
Stayed for 2 nights in July 2004. We were on the 15th floor overlooking the water and had a great view. Rooms are European style not American and are clean with comfotable beds - Bath with tub and nice towels. Buffet Breakfast was included with the room and had a wide variety to choose from.

Hotel is in a good location, walked to Tivoli and the shopping street, close to train stations as well. Would not hesitate to return to Scandic.
