We woke up to a perfect sunny day without wind and of course that is the day that my bicycle decides to break its chain. Fortunately and thanks to Google we were able to find a bicycle repair shop in nearby Skjern with some really accommodating people, and after waving, pointing and speaking our best Danish we were able to get a new chain fitted and we were soon on our way again.

Skjern is situated on a fiord and the surrounding country side is swampy except for where it has been ...

I think this moral will take us far in life, no matter the country! ...

Nothing like getting up early on a Sunday morning for a bike ride before the Sunday roast. The ride was 104km and the Sunday roast at km 60 was the remnants of my cookie & cream power bar that I had been nibbling on for the previous 59 km. This is day 3 and by 0800 we had dispensed with Denmark's middle island Fyn and crossing The Little Belt waterway over a short bridge that links to Jutland. We were now on ...

... saw just how long and steep the ramp was that awaited us – no problem, of course, for the motorbikes with their huge engines, but for the two cyclists with only pedal-power to call upon, it was a little more of a challenge. So accepting the challenge and allowing the motorbikers to go ahead of us, we both pedalled frantically in our lowest gear, made the top with apparent ease … and tried our hardest not to look out of ...
