      Great spot for a stopover,
Centrally located with everything within the town easy walking distance.
Staff were great, cheerful and helpful.
Menus were good and well priced.

About 15-20 minutes walk out of town on the main street which suited us very well.

The Sawridge inn was welcoming (ok, so we had an aussie on the front desk) and the decor was quite reasonable. On first impressions walking through the front doors the hotel appears roomy and options exist for meals or a few drinks.

The suite we had was a fabulous size though the bathroom vanity could have been a bit bigger.

Breakfast was not over-priced compared to many hotels Ive stayed at and the choice wide enough to suit most people.

Outside, the squirells were quite good entertainment and if you drive a car there was plenty of parking.

Lastly, the hotel has a guest laundry which, to any of us travelling for an extended period, is most welcome and cost effective.

... us that the road was open to about our campsite but we may not be able to get all that way. Trying our luck and needing a place to stay for the night we made the drive anyway. The sun was setting behind us and was transformed into an amazing pinkish reddish color by the smoke from the fire filling the valley. By the time we got to the campsite the road was open again, the smoke had cleared most of the valley, and we were able to settle in for the night with no ...

I was joined by Ozzie Karl for the Skytram, which is the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and reaches an altitude of 2277 metres (7472 ft). Basically it's a gondola like you use if you go ski-ing and is pretty similar to the cable car that goes up Table Mountain in Cape Town (but the Jasper one doesn't rotate). One you reach the top you can just admire the view, browse the gift ...

... and checked into our hotel.....I will here take the credit for finding a super little deal on a Best Western loft suite which had a small kitchen and lounge with a sofa and log fire and stairs leading up to a balcony style loft with a huge bed and flat screen TV...boom luxury! However it was around 7-8pm and we were keen to take a quick look at Jasper and get some grub so dumped our stuff and went to explore. Jasper is BEAUTIFUL.....much quieter and ...

      ... insane!

So as said as happened, one morning , very early, we set off. The nearest place in BC , where to go for insurance was Valemount , a small town lying deep in the mountains of the Canadian Rockies , where we drove already through two years ago in summer 2011.

We head west following Yellowhead from Edmonton to Jasper, we passed through the town of Jasper (after Banff one of the most important tourist centers in the Canadian Rockies), then with ...
