      Great spot for a stopover,
Centrally located with everything within the town easy walking distance.
Staff were great, cheerful and helpful.
Menus were good and well priced.

About 15-20 minutes walk out of town on the main street which suited us very well.

The Sawridge inn was welcoming (ok, so we had an aussie on the front desk) and the decor was quite reasonable. On first impressions walking through the front doors the hotel appears roomy and options exist for meals or a few drinks.

The suite we had was a fabulous size though the bathroom vanity could have been a bit bigger.

Breakfast was not over-priced compared to many hotels Ive stayed at and the choice wide enough to suit most people.

Outside, the squirells were quite good entertainment and if you drive a car there was plenty of parking.

Lastly, the hotel has a guest laundry which, to any of us travelling for an extended period, is most welcome and cost effective.

We keep climbing... eventually getting to an altitude where the trees don't even bother to grow..

The hypoxia starves my brain and I find myself thinking weird thoughts like, wow this is great... what a sight and pity there is nothing like this near Perth... But don't worry I got over it...

      ... pick up.

When I woke up, I was looking at 'em. I got a chance to behold them all day from the Panorama Car and the Dome Car. When we made a pit stop in Jasper, I got the opportunity to breathe clean crisp air while hunting for my representative magnet. This was truly a great day to behold God's beauty.

(I later found that this is a stop that many people get off on and spend the night, to do some hiking and visiting of Jasper National Park and Banff.)

... exploring, we had marshmallows and wine around the fire at night before deciding it was time to go to sleep. For some stupid reason I thought my sleeping bag from Australia would be enough to get through the night in Canada… wrong. Along with the natural fear of being eaten by a bear, it was the coldest night of my entire life.

That was about the extent of our camping adventure, so after packing up and taking a few more photos we headed back to ...

Sadly the drive had to come to an end in Jasper. As we drove into the small town, Gordon was quick to sight some caribou, yelling "cabooses!" (caribou-moose), grazing on the train tracks beside the town. After checking these out we settled into hotel before heading to the hotel restaurant for some ...
