About 15-20 minutes walk out of town on the main street which suited us very well.

The Sawridge inn was welcoming (ok, so we had an aussie on the front desk) and the decor was quite reasonable. On first impressions walking through the front doors the hotel appears roomy and options exist for meals or a few drinks.

The suite we had was a fabulous size though the bathroom vanity could have been a bit bigger.

Breakfast was not over-priced compared to many hotels Ive stayed at and the choice wide enough to suit most people.

Outside, the squirells were quite good entertainment and if you drive a car there was plenty of parking.

Lastly, the hotel has a guest laundry which, to any of us travelling for an extended period, is most welcome and cost effective.

This road called the Icefield Parkway, is so beautiful that you must visit. Hanging glaciers, snowfields, and steep slopes of granite. The roads are busy and we see more black bear along the road.

... have successfully avoided the shops. Approx 50km further along I found Lake Louise which although it was frozen it didnt disappoint. On the way back out from Lake Louise I rode over the mountain to check out Lake Moraine which although smaller was equally impressive. The Icefields Parkway which runs between Banff and Jasper National parks was incredible and of such grandeur that I doubt even photographs can adequately convey the ...

    Everyone enjoyed it.

... of the first order...heart pumping, cardio, leg burning walk... Spectacular views were a great reward. On the way down we tasted the water in the stream, so pure. We headed down the road and Noelene and I took a short walk along a trail to see the lake and stream we'd seen from the road. We thought we were on the trail of some elk, moose or caribou by the look of the droppings on the trail but it turned out to be horses (great ...
