Bangkok... Or Not...

My first 24 hours in Bangkok were filled with anger and rage, it did not go to plan by any means and I was left feeling a bit empty and out of pocket. This was because my first 24 hours in Bangkok were spent in Delhi. Balls up. Get to airport and my suspicious mind starts working up a sweat as there is no sign of my flight number on the departure board, I have stumbled into many an uncertain situation here, so I have come to be the eternal optimist, knowing that even though things do not look...

Bangkok, we have arrived!

Yesterday morning we arrived in Bangkok. The weather here is overcast and hot! We've had the odd shower today, which makes it pretty humid, but nothing that has stopped us doing anything! Yesterday we found a place to stay on Soi Ram Bhuttri. It's a small street about 5mins from the 'bustling' Khao San. The room is on the nicer side of dingey, but we did opt for an air conditioned room which makes it a fine refuge from the humidity outside. We spent the rest of the day catching up on sleep an...

Bangkok again... And this time loving it.

THURSDAY - So I'm in Bangkok and my first impressions was that it was dirty, smelly and crazy... and well it is all of that but its also really really fun. My first night here was last night and I went out, had a few buckets (mini buckets full of cocktails for 300 baht) with a whole bunch of random people including some new zealanders, english guys and another aussie. we played a drinking game in the middle of the street with a crazy german guy who couldn't speak english very well so i had to...

Vanskelig å sove når Bangkok aldri sover!

Khaosan Rd
Her kan man fa tak i hva som helst, horer, mat, klestøy... you name it! Sola steikte, og luftfuktigheten var rimelig høy. Og vi var gansk...

One night in Bangkok

Arrived this morning (at around 5am) on the overnight bus from Chumphon. It dropped us all off fairly near Thanon Khoa San, although there were plenty of taxis and tuk-tuks around to take people there who could not figure out where we were. Three of us clubbed together to get a triple room (250B) at the Sawasdee Inn on Soi Rongmai, near Thanon Khoa San. After a little sleep I hit the streets and walked down the infamous Khoa San road and had lunch at the excellent Arawy vegetarian restaurant ...

Last of Beijing and Pad Thai

Greetings from Bangkok, where we have had Pad Thai for 4 out of the last 6 meals and every time it was an option. We've paid as little as 25 baht for it, or about 68 cents, and as much as 80 baht, or about $2.15. Cheap and yummy, my favorite. So in the last several days, we've said good bye to Beijing and China, hello to Bangkok and Thailand, and tomorrow we head for Kathmandu and Nepal... Wild trip we are on. So Monday morning after finishing another massive blog post with the help of Kriste...

Bangkok

Bangkok

Wednesday 1st February 2006 We were told to get ready for 6.40am to catch the bus back to Bangkok, but as usual the bus didn't arrive till 7.30am and we had to wait for the Canadians to finish breakfast so didn't actually end up leaving till 8.15am , much to the annoyance of the other passengers. The journey back was just as bumpy but we managed to survive 5 hours of it as we knew it would soon be over. The border crossing was extremely busy and took us a good hour to get through. Finally we ...
