Bangkok

EN: After Ko Tao we decided to head to Bangkok, traveling by boat and bus. The day we left Ko Tao the weather was still bad, which made for a fun one and a half hour boat trip to the mainland. We were traveling in an high-speed catamaran jumping over the waves, half the people on the boat puked their gutts out, we were feeling a bit sick, but managed to keep the breakfast in. After the boat we still had a 6-hour bus ride to Bangkok and it delivered us almost to the door of our hotel in the in...

Going out in style

After getting back to Bangkok, and back to my 2nd home (Sawasdee Bunglampoo Inn) I was quickly out on the town to meet up with Sarah, a travel buddy from Viet Nam and Cambodia. The night is best described as crazy. We had some beers and some buckets sat in the courtyard of a petrol station (no smoking allowed), then went and played a bit of pool. After that, we headed to The Gazebo club and partied a bit there, Sarah headed off around 2ish (I think?!), but I wasn't ready for the night to end,...

Coming to an end....

(written by Steph) I don't know about you guys, but I certainly can't believe that this trip is nearing the end. We are now back in Bangkok, after spending 10 extremely relaxing days on the beach in Koh Samui. We slept, we played in the pool, we read a bizillion books (some of them were even good!), we watched movies, we played chinese chess (our new favourite game) - we totally relaxed. The hotel was great, and it was kinda nice to stay in a place with a comfy bed and with a shower that wasn...

Bangkok baby!

Hey hey, Just a very quick entry... we arrived here a few days ago and took quite a few days to get over the jet lag, of 7 hours time difference! Saw some of the big temples (Wats), and did lotsa shopping... and learnt a bit of the lingo.

arrival

so tired! it is a bank holiday tomorrow so the traffic was really bad on the taxi journey from the airport to the hotel. it was dark early at 6, so havent had a chance to visit any attractions here. the hotel is ok for a budget hotel in thailand but a little basic and unclean as you would expect for the price!

dont think much of koh san road, really noisy and dirty, but hope to go away sightseeing tomorrow. does any one know how i can rotate my profile pic so it is not sideways!!!! tha...

2nd day in Bangkok

Today i visited about 5 temples including big budha, marble temple and golden mountain. Dont ever take the tuk tuks, they are con men! dont listen to them! I felt fairly safe walking around by myself, and i will visit the grand palace complex and river kwai when i am back in bangkok. I much prefer kho san road at night as it is really lively and there is plenty of food on offer!

I have booked a 5/6 day trip to chiang mai and chiang rai tomorrow, the bus is picking me up for the airport...

SE Asia's Hub

We arrived in Bangkok yet again, for the 4th time in two months. When we got in, we lugged our packs and the rest of our stuff all over the city looking for a cheap guesthouse to stay in. After seeing about 40 of them (no joke, 40!), we finally settled for a ****** one right around Khoasan Road and decided it was good enough. We took the night to chill out a bit and grab some beers and food. While we were sitting outside, we each got half of our blood sucked out of us by the mosquitos and th...

First stop - BANGKOK

At long last the travels now begin... Bangkok is very hot and bustling with tons of people. Stupidly busy place! Bit of a crazy town really. We stayed on Khaosan Road, right bang in the middle, where there is plenty to do. The street is filled from side to side with so many market stalls and little 'hole in the wall' styly shops that you just don't know where to start. The locals love to try capture you and squirrel you off into their own little shops, and annoyingly hand everything you happ...

Getting to know Bangkok

As I have already mentioned some details before, we arrived to our hotel about midday. After 3-hour nap we decided to bounce for a short walk and explore the surroundings...we went through a park full of rats (just looked around in the park and saw a pair of rats in one second, so I keep wondering how many of them live there peacefully overall), passed the Grand Palace, got into night streetmarket with plenty of flowers, fruit and nasty dead animals (like half of a pig or goose with all the g...
