During the flight we crossed the International Date Line so Friday became Saturday. As I can't sleep sitting up, I passed the time watching movies or working/playing on my iPad. The plane touched down at Narita Airport at about 17:30 (JST) which is 14 hours ahead of Ottawa, so it felt like 3:30 in the morning. At the airport terminal we followed the crowd to Customs ...

... so Drew and I parted ways after check in. The staff all spoke English - so this was easy.

The shower though. The shower was pure heaven. Easily on my list of top ten showers I've ever had. Shampoo and soap was provided. But oh god. The water was so hot and the pressure so perfect.

... they could change their minds only to find the guy at passport control had a ton of questions for me. It actually turned out that he was just being really nice and wanted to know where I was from and what London was like etc. So far I'm loving the warm reception in Japan! I was finally through to the other side, woo hoo!!! And then guess what happened?! On my way down to the train station to pick up my rail pass a tv crew came up to ...

... a personal escort to my gate. With probably some of the best customers service that I have ever received and an awesome tour of the airport from the runway area. I was being driven past planes, carts, food trucks, baggage loading docks, security stations and so many things I had no clue what were but they looked awesome.

After about a 5 minute ride, which probably would have taken me an hour by foot, not including the time ...
