      ... at station with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. Quick 40 min trip to Como- out of the flatlands into the mountains. Light rain and a bit cooler. Como is a disappointment- not much to see, but several nice piazza between crowded buildings. The only hotel in town that looked interesting was closed for winter so Tourist office suggested a place in Cernobbio ( sounds like Chenoble) about 6 km away. Terzo Crotto. Lovely 100 year old hotel with big courtyard in quaint little village ...

      ... br> Parma is a city of just under 200,000 which is famous for its ham's and cheeses. It is also famous for architecture. The city is very pleasant and small enough to walk around, just like Brescia.

      We had a walk around the city, a bite to eat and a few beers before returning to the hotel.

      ... Petromoli before climbing over the Cisa pass which was fantastic. From the top of the pass it was just a few km descent down to Berceto.
      The coastal road was quite busy but the pass was deserted.
      Before Petromoli we passed though a extensive area of quarries with huge slabs and blocks of marble ready for use as a raw material.

      ... get us to Parma......I then work out that the train to Recci is boarding so I need to find Rhid.....sure enough he's in the Information booth talking to a confused looking assistant. I tell Rhid we need to go....and I'm wondering why the assistant was looking confused. Rhid was one step ahead of me.....sure we get the train to Recci and get off at Parma but which train do we need to get on to get to Aulla........."Ah.." says I.... nope hadn't thought of that.
