... Expensive at 70€ with a bottle of red but great food. Porcini funghi pasta and fish in a strong tomato and olive sauce finished with a creme brûlée - best meal yet. Rain all night and predicted to get worse and stay for few days so no point staying here, nothing to do in the rain. Prefer to spend wet day in train and come back when it's fine. Bought the last copy of a walk description book in village- lots great looking walks- some quite easy and some up ...

    Day 10 - Sunday, 14th September, 2014

It was only a short ride down to Parma from Brescia. We went through nice looking villages where it appeared that all the locals had come out to meet in the town or village Piazza's or squares.

It was another beautiful day, weather wise and it justified our reasons to move south in search of decent weather after ...

We have 131.5km on the clock for the ...

... to Parma, good relaxed scenery and before long we arrive. We then have to work out which train to get on to get to Aulla. We have a bit of a panic but then work out we have to get on the train to Spezia, this gives us an hour to spare so we head out and take in the sights of Parma. It seems like a lovely little town, quite sleepy. We don't go far and decide on having a couple of beers. Rhid has some fast food Kentucky Fried Rat Burger stuff which he instantly regrets. Soon enough ...

... We also purchased a wedge to bring home that was aged for 36 months. The best part is that I estimate it to weigh around 4 pounds but only cost 16 euro's or roughly $22. Just down in town here in Parma the same wedge would cost us 25 euro's.

Returning to the hotel the complimentary breakfast was still open so endulge we did. A quick nap (because we can) then back to the streets for a little shopping and a glass of wine and dinner.
