... played songs on an accordion all night while the locals sang along to the songs. We then went to Peter's Brauhaus which was filled with people dressed for the carnival. The beer there was amazing. After Peter's we went to the local kebab shop and had a yufkta and the guy actually baked the bread on the spot for us. ... and advice, but seriously, we were tired and just want to get to the apartment. So we set off with a map for the apartment in the rain. It was very busy with crowds heading to the Opera but we did get the most magnificent views of the cathedral as we walked past. So we get to the front door only to realise that the nice lady did not actually give us the key. Back I go leaving the other under the shelter of the veranda to collect the key. ...

... at the top we had to be careful of falling ice from the spier above and by the time we got down to street level the authorities had closed the climb so we were lucky we got up there when we did. ... a wild goose chase for 10 minutes before we were finally able to lock up our bags for 6 hours. I will say that is one of the good things about the train stations because it lets you explore the town without having to worry about dragging around a suitcase. We gave ourselves 2 hours to explore the downtown and 4 hours to get to the National Museum and back, but the Alt Stadt was tiny.
