... a boarding pass for our flight, anywhere near our gate. Extra questioning and screening as well as passport photo verification was done before we could enter the area near our gate. At the boarding gate desk, no less than 8 people appear to be checking printed passenger lists against other lists and computer data. It's a strange feeling. Breakfast as usual @ 8:30 am. Every morning it is a different breakfast & place mats or tablecloth & napkins & holders. Very nice ....classy! Said our goodbyes to everyone. They were all leaving this morning & new folks arriving today. We decided to head south & east along Hwy 276 again, cross the parkway & continue south through the Pisgah National Forest & Transylvania county, North Carolina. Stopped at the easiest waterfall ...
... Did a little celebrating with a glass or two of wine and had great salmon dinner. We ended up spending the night which we hadn't planned on, but we were having such a great time, we hated to leave.
Next morning we had a great breakfast in town and toured about a bit and were then headed back to the campground.

Year 2, Day 113 - Today Nick and I visited the town of Henderson, NC. This town sits among the Blue Ridge Mountains at 2,200 feet above sea level. It is a picturesque and quaint town with lots of diversity. I understand that as far back as 100 years ago, people favored this area for retirement (instead of Florida), because it offered all 4 seasons, along with temperate winters.

Living less than a mile from I-85, gives us easy access to major highways when we make our travels via automobile.
