I awoke at 4am but Derek slept till 7. Breakfast was great with loads of fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, pastries, tortes and bread. Good for carbo loading!! All eaten in a cave that was once a church. The high ceilings indicate a church not a house. We then set off on foot to explore the area although the rest of the group had had a tour the day we arrived.

Dinner was outside with our tour group. Six Aussies and two Aussie hosts who have lived in Italy for twenty years. All local food, simple but very tasty. Warm calm evening.
Walked up many stairs to the highest point for a view of the Sassi (cave dwelling area) and then into bed by 11pm.

Took our hand luggage up 7 floors and then climbed up to the Hotel Excelsior Palace perched on the top of the hill with magnificent views.
Settled into our "normal" ...
... for sore throats. He has pistules on it so know he needs antibiotics.
We have had a very lazy day, sitting outside our cave this morning with my leg up and ice on it and the occasional snooze. Did the washing too but not having much success with drying it!
It's now pouring with rain and thunderstorms which are quite magnificent sitting up here overlooking the ravine.
