Days 12 to 15: Vilnius
... square. We use the word “greatest” quite loosely here! It was pretty funny – one constant in all cultures seems to be how bad their pop music can be, and how many people love it!
Time to say goodbye to yet another city. Definitely, definitely recommend this one to anyone travelling through the Baltic States. It’s pretty, interesting, has friendly folk, and has awesome beer (Mmmm Baltas!) what more could you want?

Visting Vilnius
... while feeling rather ill with a tummy too full of peanut M&M's! For dinner I tried my own traditional Lithuanian dish, herring with hot potato and pickled cabbage. It was ok but the herring was fresh... and a little difficult to stomach. We really only have one full day here so we'll be getting up early tomorrow to see the sights before one more sleep then a bus to Riga, the capital of Latvia.

From VilniUS to VilniYOUS.
... the main road of Vilnius as well as the University and President's Palace. We explored ethnic areas, including the Jewish Quarter, which today is an area full of shops and restaurants. The basement of the Amber museum showed us the level of medieval Vilnius, several feet below current street level. We also visited a Russian Orthodox church, the only one in Vilnius. The smell of incense seemed vaguely familiar.

Waiting For Golod
... train comes to many a dead stop with announcements unintelligible for me and no one near who speaks English to translate. I wait and see what happens. Oh; there we go, we’re moving again. At Mockava, we arrive moving in one direction but depart with the train heading in the opposite direction; the front becoming the rear. That was interesting.

European Escapades
... The bus ride was pretty average but we befriended a really attractive Moldovan girl who I was convinced was going to steal something from us. After an overnight bus ride we arrived in Warsaw Poland in the early hours of the morning. Our Moldovan friend pulled the 'my ATM card won't work and I have no money' trick. I was now sure all my possessions and my kidneys were going to be taken from me by this hot Moldovan girl. Turns out I was just over paranoid and ...
