Took the train from Nuremberg to Munich. Encountered a group of refugees. Pretty difficult to get through with all the police that were there as well. I thought we might miss our train!! We didn't miss this connection although it is really full. One more transfer and we will be in ...

... Finally we arrived in Gerlos. It is up in the mountains (did I mention that?) and was perfect. The town was some fairytale looking place, and the temperatures were spectacular. We were happy that we didn't choose a town at the base of the mountain. The town Zell - down at the bottom of our mountain was consistently much much warmer. Our shuttle driver took us back down the mountain ...

    Howdy folks,

Before going on our really big hike, Steffie and I wanted to have a day off before doing it. So Steffie came up with the idea of checking out a canyon called the Wimbachschlucht in the neighbouring town of Ramsau. So we jumped in the car after breakfast and a cup of tea in order to check it out. Even though we were there at around 10am, the car park was full because it is one of the favourite spots to park if you are climbing the Watzmann.

... gardens were the only thing immaculately finished in the 7 years that the palace was under construction before running out of cash. The two large fountains either side of the garden portray classical figures and are quite amazing. Thankfully we joined the last tour of the day at 5:10pm although we did get a German bogan along for the ride, who enjoyed complaining about seemingly everything; not very German indeed!

The tour started with the finished 20 rooms out of ...
