          Fly Away Home

Had to roll out of bed at 4:00 a.m. to catch a 6:00 flight. En route, I found a cache, in the dark, at 4:30 a.m., so that I could fill in the calendar day without having to be forced to go out and get a cache after I got home. The flight left Colorado Springs on time, but when we got to Houston, goofy stuff went down: they couldn't get the jet bridge up to the plane. So after trying for about 20 minutes, rather than just roll up the ladder, ...

We had not yet left Guyana when I purchased the July 3 tickets for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Oklahoma AAA team. We were able to spend some real quality time together before we left. We were trying to capture every minute we can together. The last few days were the hardest.

          Every ...

... to swerve a lot more due to crosswinds (or more logically the crosswinds were very strong... whatever!). Once we had driven thriugh Denver and were on our way towards Wyoming, the weather took a turn for the worse. It started with a bit of a drizzle, which turned into light rain, and ended up with a mile or two of heavy rainsuch that the windscreen wipers couldn't clear it quick enough, and we had to slow down to 60 mph ...

... Needless to say, we were treated well and the food was great.

After breakfast the next morning, our group loaded into two buses that took us to the U.S. Air Force Academy. At least one of our members was an Academy grad and he was able to put a good deal of perspective on the tour guides comments. First off, the Academy is in an absolutely spectacular setting, covering 18,500 acres on the east side of the Rampart Range of the ...
