Jakarta – the capital of Indonesia and its largest city. What can I say about it? On one hand it's a real **** hole. Its dirty, it has the worst traffic I’ve ever seen, the air is smoggy, it’s over crowded, very few people speak English, it’s more expensive than Bali or Jogja, and the people seem very gritty – seemingly living hard lives in this dusty city. On the other hand it has great Chinese food (dim sum anybody?), the people ...

... the extra £2 each for beds. After a snooze we were picked up by our guide and taken to the chilled out, quirky Coconut House. The accommodation was lovely, with our large colourfully decorated double room and hammocks and comfy beanbags on the balcony. His son has hernia and he said he was thankful that Blue Bird, the taxi company he is working for is paying half of the medical cost. Thank God for giving ...

A few days later, here is the chronology of what happened:
Sunday: Arrived here, didn't have a chance to actually look at anything or try anything like a washing machine or A/C because it was midnight and I went right to sleep. Ari said that tomorrow someone would pick me up to go to the school at ten a.m. She also said that the internet would be hooked up tomorrow. I thought great, I will have a week off ...

Find One Neon Bag at the airport

A travel blog entry by jshangau on Jun 28, 2013

... Just like any other Asian city but it seems particularly crazy here. Just google Jakarta traffic and you'll see. Also, I was told to exit the green line from customs. You'll see when you exit two green signs on opposite directions. It was quite confusing and I did end up exiting the wrong one, saw several people whom I called out her name from behind them (no response), wrong directions from airport staff and guards until I was able to find a British lady to help me out to ...
