a quasi trip to the coast

tiny rafts of foam clustered together at the surface of the quickly-warming beer, the miniscule bubbles clinging desperately together as if aware and terrified of their fast-approaching fate. i closed my fingers around the chipped glass and swirled the last two sips around a few times, sending the bits of foam soaring out to the edges like the thrilled passengers of the beloved state fair gravitron ride. it was the last of my second pint of the afternoon, and the spreading green lawn and rust...

Kenya 2008 Impact Women's Conference

The women's conference was a great success! Many women from Kenya and Uganda asked me to pray for them. The Lord truly love His children. The women were set free from depression, fear and witchcraft. One woman was healed by the power of prayer. Even though the war had prevented many people from visiting Kenya and this caused them to feel hopeless, I assured the women that were present at the conference to keep their eyes on Jesus Christ. This war is only a distraction in getting them to keep...

We visited one of Nairobi City women's hospital. The team provided medical supplies. As we toured the facilities, we saw how the hospital need assistance in providing care for battered women.

Center of Hope, Mwimutoni Villae

We visited an orphanage outside of Nairobi City. A little girl named Rebecca played with me the entire time. She is so cute.

Neno Evangelsim Centre

We attended church services at Neno Evangelism Centre, Apostle James Nganga is the pastor and our host for the conference. I can truly say that this is a "man of God" who move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Apostle Nganga and his missions administrator, Pastor Duncan Miano and the entire church family served us as though they have known us all our lives. They made us truly welcomed. I literally felt at home.

Agape Children's Center

We visited this orphanage in Kikuyu District. It is the home of Pastor Duncan and Jane Miano. They have more than 16 orphans (plus their 4 children) living in their home. The children shared their testimony with us. As you can see from the photo album, they are very happy to have a mother and father that truly love them.

The Start of the Best Dam Trip Ever!!!

... I said to him about just putting a different date and then the guy repeated the same thing about buying him a soda and then it finally clicked to me. He put the last stamp on it which was the date and handed it back to me. I looked at it and it said a date that would put me past the 10 day mark and put me in the clear. I asked him how much he wanted and he said it was my choice. I pullled out 1/3 of the price of the shot and he seemed happy and so was ...

Loop the loop

Hi everyone!

I hope this finds you well, missing you all already. Sorry it's taken so long to write, I fear kenyan internet connections might not be up to blog technology but I've found a decent place here in the hotel I've just arrived at - their 'business centre' (two computers and three chairs), fingers crossed! I'm in Nairobi waiting to meet my tour group after a 10-day trip down the coast with Katy. Our route took us from Lamu to Nairobi ...

Not even close to a tourist city

... apart from expat/rich Kenyans in enclaves most of the city and outskirts was mainly very poor rural and slum areas-sad. Back in Nairobi we did a quick internet cafe net search and found out that one overland trip leaves on 3rd August and if lucky we could get on it as places still available. So we returned to the tour company Gametrackers and spent time trying to arrange the overland trip which we got on after a day waiting for confirmation and then to fill in the week ...

The End

... I felt like crying and turning around. I can't believe all that I saw and experienced. I am moved by the people, their lifestyle, their persaverance. I would love to say that I came back here with a plan to help improve their life, something I can do from here. But in actuality, I haven't got a clue...yet. I need to sleep on it, see what my resources are, and where I feel I can be the most useful. Any ideas?

I wanted to thank everyone for ...

Being caged in during our first visit to Nairobi

... more with the pictures. So after our time was up in Nairobi we started our crazy trip by mini bus down to Loitokitok. You need to experience traveling in Kenya for yourself, just imagine the worst possible conditions possible. Without any stops it took us about 7 1/2 hours to arrive in Loitokitok which is 150 miles away. Imagine taking a bus on a dirtbike track is the closest example I can think of.
