Nyepi Eve!
Yesterday we flew from Singapore to Denpasar, Bali. We flew on AirAsia. Although we were a little concerned initially about the reputation of the airline it went pretty much without a hitch. I will say though that flight times seem more like a suggestion than any type of rule for them. After a 2:30 flight with more kids than the flight to Orlando, …
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Ubud
For our entire trip up to this point we have tried to walk as much as possible around the towns and cities we have visited. This has been partly a result of economy, partly due to wanting to avoid confusing public transportation, but mostly because we feel it gives us a flavor for the area that driving in a vehicle can't. Our strategy for today in …
Riding in style with Agung Wimba Wimba
Still exhausted from our trek in the sun yesterday, we decided it was time to travel in style. As previously suggested by our friends, we went online and looked up reviews for a private driver for the day to take us around to sites we had read about and wanted to see. We had contacted Agung Wimba Wimba the night before and now are glad we did.
A Lazy Afternoon
This morning we were spent. After all the sightseeing we finally needed a day to catch up on trip planning, blogging, Skyping family, and just napping. This is not always a possible luxury given our busy itinerary but after having accomplished so much the first few days we felt it was well deserved. As I sit here typing all this it is nice listening to the heavy rain run off the roof. Yawn.
A Day at the Spa...
Maki got to go wild with the Balinese spa menu. We figured since we could afford it for once, we would go all out. That is how we ended up with a close to 5 hour day of pampering and more kinds of lotions than I ever knew existed.
After dropping off our laundry, we were picked up at our hotel and whisked off to Jaen's Spa in Ubud. There …

The staff at this hotel could not possibly try harder. they will do almost anything for, if management will let them. Our stay was almost perfect except that we were stuck with a room that appeared to have been damaged in a recent flood from the bathtub above and the mouldy smell was not pleasant. the stained and semi-collapsing ceiling were a give-away. We asked for a different room but unfortunately management is not as good as the rest of the staff. They didn't make it happen for us. Instead they put an air freshener in the room that was almost worse than the mould. Oh well.
