... He was extremely well educated and a captivating story teller and proceeded to explain that he bought the building a year ago and was in the process of converting it into a small hotel. The cynic in me thought that the tour was a clever selling scheme as he continued to say that two suites had been renovated using antiques and artefacts from around the world. As we oohed and ahhed in response to the first suite, we were a little surprised when at the door of the second suite he ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India cawleyadventure... and failed to see the piece of camouflaged metal sticking out of the pavement!! Silly me, and my punishment? A painful and black toe!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr. I've drugged myself up on painkillers, so fingers crossed its not broken (joke mother...don't panic).

So we carried on walking (slowly) to the fort, got lost (as you do) and climbed a giant hill to get there. Was okay, views of the blue city were fab, but it ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India pughnell... ends that we didn't want to carry with us. At the airport we said our goodbyes and checked in for our flight. After being wit Rampal for the last 24 days, it was going to be strange to leave him behind. We really did enjoy his company and he gave us a good introductory course about his country. Check in was a snap and the flight was smooth. An hour after take-off we landed in New Delhi ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India juanitobosque... met a lovely guy we know as KP Singh, formally a five star chef at the Raj Hotel in Jaipur who lives a very modern lifestyle with an Army Colonel wife. We have spent many nights drinking and chatting with him and has offered to let us stay with his family, and given us much needed advice and recommendations about our travels. A few days later I was feeling well enough to travel on to our next adventure in Jaisalmer.
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India pixelchick... three) hours of looking and negotiating they walked away with everything they wanted. On our third day in Jodhpur we took a taxi out to the small town of Oisen. There was a great Hindu temple and a wonderful Jain temple in this small town. The Mahavira Jain temple is dedicated to the last (24th) Jain Prophet. The main temple was constructed around 775 ...

Arrivés dans un hôtel un peu plus sympa pour 10 francs au lieu de 4 hier, je me suis pris une douche froide puis j ai lavé mes affaires. Ensuite un rapide déjeuner et travail de mis à jour du blog. Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India mikela... for everyone (150 of them) and said hello. They were very nice. I found out that in India, most kids go to school six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, because they have lots of holidays. I am not sure I would like that. After lunch and a tour of the tented camps underground water system, which was built by the Marahwal (king) about 300 years ago in the middle of the desert (and full of bats!), we were ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India zolab... what to do and not wanting to be sacreligious in anyway, so we kind of walked round and walked out again!! This was followed by a brief outing to Jaswant Thadas, a memorial built for the Maharajas after their cremation. An ornate building of white marble, but not too much else to say about it, and then on to Udai Bhawan Palace, where the current Maharaja still lives, where there was a small, less interesting museum. We were wheeled from there to ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India pmitchell1981... the sudden it goes dead quiet....I am ****** right off now and ready to rip this chubby indian's chicken wing right off and beat the rest of them silly...but they just stare at me with a look of shock as the worm squirmed and whimpered under my knee...I ask the young kid across from meif he speaks english...he slowly nods like I am going to eat him or something..." kid start translating," " look we are going to be here for a ****ing while so lets all calm ...
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India w4nderer... with it's many blue houses and buildings. Why painted blue, you ask?..well, it's due to the indigo tinge of the whitewashed houses around the old part of the city. The blue houses were originally for Brahmins but non-Brahmins soon joined in, as the colour was said to deflect the heat and keep mosquitoes away! We decided to take an audio tour of the fort (included in the admission price) and I recommend it - you can tour around the fort at your own pace, and ...
