Siiiiiiiiii

Another idylic Hollywood set

We arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.

Watersports on the Bahai de Pollença

... lunch was served buffet style on the main deck so everyone could eat at their leasure and were it was the most convenient for them.

Waterskiing is very exhausting and after a few hours of playing on the water, the crew loaded everything up and we headed down to coast to the small village of sa Calobra on the Cala de Calobra.

Underwater Lakes near Portocristo

... cave tour we took the heli to the yacht which was approaching Minorca island when we landed aboard. It was close to 6 PM, so we washed up and had dinner on the sun deck at 7 PM while we watched the sunset and as we entered long entrance to the Mahón harbor, the second deepest natural harbor in the world.

Family Holidays

... my friend Sanny, with whom I worked together in the sailing school some years ago.
We managed to go Catsailing two times, and always had some good wind to ride the double trapez! Always getting me into adrenaline rushes ;-)

An evening with a big barbecue at Sannys terrasse and a night out for some fantastic guitar livemusic...

After-Exam Holiday with the girls

A wonderful 2-week-holiday after we finished our exams. Don`t think we ever deserved the holiday as much as we did then!
The weather was just perfect, warm and sunny so we could be at the beach and swim in the ocean, but not too hot so we could start some sightseeing tours!
In the mornings, after having the first ocean-view-coffee on the terrasse, we went to the market to buy fresh fruit and bread, having big ...

Orient and Sóller

Today I'm going back north. First stop will be the hamlet of Orient, a bare handful of homes clustered at one end of a small valley in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana. Even little Orient (population, not counting tourists, is about 30) is cashing in on the tourist trade with three hotels and a few restaurants. Needless to say the tourists bring in more money than the orchards that surround the town. As poor and small as Orient is, it still has a little parish ...

Port de Pollença and Cap de Formentor

... energetic celebration with mock battles in the streets reenacting the victory of the townsfolk over the Turkish pirates in 1550 AD. Today, Port de Pollença is the tourist meca as opposed to the town of Pollença itself.

After lunch in Port de Pollença I continued on to the extreme northeastern corner of the island which is marked by a lighthouse. The Cap de Formentor was purchased in its entirety by the rather wealthy ...

The first family trip

Maths in the square at night, being awesome at the quiz, teaching it to swim, vodka and top trumps each night, the boy crying about play club, the boy loving play club, the convertible red beast (megane), fred dancing with me, all the AWFUL people that go to those places (us not included)

Sun and Sea

... closer, it escaped under the coral. I ended up getting a bunch of shots of the hexagonal shapes the sunrays made on the sea floor and on my friend the tiny pink jellyfish. I was amazed at how most fish weren't at all frightened by my presence and paid no mind to me as I followed them and observed them. Living so close to the shore has probably made them realize humans will not eat them up on sight. After about an hour of being on the water I went back to my towel ...
