Hai Po Development Park, Sanya Bay Road Sanya, Hainan, China, 572000
... and humidity, Cub chose not to go ashore today. I went to town on the shuttle bus and just about passed out from the heat. The bus was not that comfortable either. I was one of the last ones to board the bus and had to go all the way to the back. When I got to the seat, the bench seat frame just had a piece of plywood to sit on. There were about four of us sitting there and found it quite amusing. They spared no expense for ...
Sanya, Hainan, China cubnelaine... We climbed into these really neat 7 or 10 passenger golf carts & they took us half way up the hill. We got out of them & then had to climb to the top of the hill as it was too steep for the little cars to continue. That was a hot and steamy undertaking, definitely not something for anyone with mobility issues. The park is beautiful & is maintained to perfection. We are assuming that, as we are back into Communist Mainland China, that as in ...

Besides hanging out with these people, my two and a half days in Sanya consisted of regular intervals along a two-point axis from the hostel to Dadonghai Beach. I deviated twice from this axis, once to hear a live band in a Sanya bar (cheesy Chinese cover band ...
... Afterwards, Sam and Gabe had a mango coldstone concoction and Lo and I bought pearls, which are harvested right off of Sanya and therefore are abundant and cheap. We were planning to buy some tortoiseshell bracelets, but we asked the guy if they broke easily, and he exclaimed "Yes!" and broke them in front of us. It was not a great sales ploy, to say the least. After a long haggle, we went back to the hostel, satisfied, and all retired to our respective rooms.
Was not overly impressed with Sanya. Sanya is 100% tourist. Mostly Chinese with a lot of Russians. The town is very pretty and the beaches are great. I enjoyed talking with some of the Russians. I guess I did not like the fact that it was one huge tourist trap, not my cup of tea.
Sanya, Hainan, China patoddcincy... area was the black market. You drive around and if some one has something to sell you they waved you down. After going up and down a couple of streets I thought ok now what. A guy comes out of a door way and waves down the van. We all get out and head inside, then into a back room that was set up like a show room full of Sony stuff and Cell phones. The front room was like an empty store. A couple of people bought some things but I did not see ...
Sanya, Hainan, China bob8888'I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not... I'm really confused now. If you're too free, you're like the way Hong Kong is now. It's very chaotic. Taiwan is also chaotic... I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want.' -- Jackie Chan to an audience of business leaders on Hainan island.
Sanya, Hainan, China happysheep... We'd laughed enough at the pyjama party so headed out the longest exit in the world - about 200 metres of shops - to find our cab guy. There he was, hanging out with the other taxi drivers. Drove us back via the beach of Sanya Bay. Some gigantic resorts, the biggest of all a mega Howard Johnson. Lots and lots of couples having wedding (honeymoon) pictures taken on the beach. One girl had this weird red creation on that you could have used a car cover for a very big ...
sanya, China aussiepanda... in Guiyang the week in Sanya was mainly a celebration of the marriage and was a bit of a fusion of English and Chinese traditions. But first the list of principle characters: Dave and Jing: The wedding couple. Dave used to be a colleague of mine at GV. He met Jing while on an install in Guiyang in China about 3 years ago and has since moved out to China still working for GV and one of its successors. Dave has leant excellent Chinese and it is very ...
Sanya, Hainan, China simonmain1... while Yoong does an hour of internet. I had a long wait to be let into the room and had to go back down to reception before they found someone to open the door for me. We went to see the "Beauty Crown", a building in the shape of a crown, where the Miss World Beauty Pageant takes place. Not really much to see and tickets were Y30 just to go into the empty building, but we persuaded the ticket-seller to let us in for half-price. We had lunch at a restaurant we had liked ...
