... a salute to Marilyn Monroe with all the dancers dressed like Marilyn. They even did the scene from the movie where her dress blew up. I'm sure they would not have done that, had the Chinese not been familiar with that scene.

There was also a salute to Michael Jackson. All the dancers were dressed like Michael with the gloves to match. The song they danced to was "Dangerous".

This morning the van headed for Nanshan in Sanya City. Along the way, planted in the middle of the highway, were miles and miles of Hibiscus. Beautiful to see. We also passed by pineapple trees growing not too far from the road and water buffalo were grazing in the grass. Plenty of Palm trees provide coconut drinks, coconut filled buns and fried coconut. Nanshan means Southern Hill and is where the Guan Yin Buddha Goddess is located. ...

... the older women weaving. They wear tattoos all over their bodies. They originally got tattooed because it made their skin ugly and protected them from getting kidnapped. Also you couldn't get married if you weren't tattooed. The ritual was very painful. You were poked with thorns and then soot was rubbed into the wounds. The whole process took about a week. Today it is frowned on because it is hard to get a job in Hainan if you are tattooed.

... Americans lay on the beach to get a suntan. Not here. Belinda said people in China don't like being in the sun and will use umbrellas to shade themselves. She said more people will come to the beach around 5:00 pm.

Here at Fen Jie Zhou, you can go out on a water bike, a boat, go scuba diving, go on a submarine ride or even have an underwater wedding! There was an area set aside for swimming, with tubes, and in the rest of the beach ...
