Yancheng is called Salt City, and used to be on the coast. It is now 100 kms inland due to flooding. Salt has been an incredibly valuable commodity in China for 2,500 years, and has been, and still is, controlled solely by the government. That is about to change next year. anything to us. It later turns out that instead of sitting in the traffic jam
Bruce thought it would be better use of his time to leave us in ...

Today we went to a Chinese supermarket . It was amazing. You could get most things there that you would need to survive as a foreigner- really beautiful French bread-better than down the road at home. Biscuits, chocolates, yoghurt, pizza, cakes, as well as more unusual Chinese items-live frogs, fish and turtles! Everything is very clean. Went to Amanda and Sam's appartment for lunch. Amanda's parents cooked Chinese food-pork dumplings which ...
